Good day friends. I have huge problem. Well. I am not so sure how huge is generally but I consider it huge because it happens to me. My good friend is a doctor and today she told me that some symptoms that I have (sometimes I lose my breath and I just can't get it) can indicate to some heart issues. So she decide to check my heart. After three days she called me and she told me that I have truncus arteriosus. I was reading something about it and I read that this is conginental heart defect. Is it true? How dangerous this is?

Hey there Only,

Truncus arteriosus is actually a birth defect of the patients heart. It usually occurs when the blood vessel coming out of the heart in the developing baby fails to separate completely during development, leaving a connection between the aorta and pulmonary artery. Now, you need to know thattThere are several different types of truncus, and they all depend on how the arteries remain connected. There is also usually a hole between the bottom two chambers of the heart (ventricles) called a ventricular septal defect. Also, you should know that congenital means present at birth. Good luck there!

Can someone get it during his or hers stressful life for example? I am just trying to get this issue, what this exactly is but I always find out some new inflammations and my brain is literally full of the information. I hope that you understand what am I saying to you. Thank you for any information.

Good day.

I know that dad of a friend of mine have this heart defect and when I was talking to him about this he told me that this is very, but very rare heart defect. There are different types of truncus arteriosus and it is definitely congenital heart defect. There are a few very bad things that can occur if you don’t treat this condition. First, too much blood circulation in the lungs may cause extra fluid to build up in and around them, making it difficult to breathe. The second thing is that if left untreated and more than normal blood flows to the lungs for a long time, the blood vessels to the lungs become permanently damaged.
