Hello everyone,
This is my first time on this site and first post. In July I was diagnosed with an absent right main pulmonary artery with hypoplastic right lung, also an enlarged left main pulmonary artery because of the increaed flow and only one functioning lung. This was a real shock considering I'm 60 years old. I have had some symptoms of shotness of breath for many years and even had a heart workup seven years ago, but this problem was not found at that time. I have been over weight since giving birth to my last child (who is now 33) and I assumed the breathing problem was because of the weight problem. Now I have found that it's because I've been living with only one functioning lung. Too bad for me that this was not found when I had great health insurance. Getting this diagnosis has cost me $10,000.00 and I have yet to go to the cardiologist or pulmonologist that I have been referred to. I have been denied health insurance twice and today I'm trying to get coverage with the help of Obama Care. So for now, I'm waiting until January so I can see these specialists. I would love to hear from anyone else who has this condition. I have no idea what kind of treatment is available for this. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks for listening!
