Hi everyone,

I am a 23-year-old woman in good health. I had my hair highlighted today, and when the stylist was washing my hair, my neck felt uncomfortable, but tolerable. It often feels uncomfortable when in this position, so I didn't think much of it.

Afterward, the stylist noticed that I had a two, narrow, bright red lines on my neck. Each were about 2 inches. I didn't feel any pain so I reassured her that it must be a bruise. 

Later, my boyfriend iced my neck and said I probably burst a neck blood vessel. I did some research online and read about Beauty Parlor Stroke Syndrome --  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beauty_parlour_syndrome. 

This is freaking me out! It's Saturday evening, so no doctors' offices are open. I don't have any symptoms of a stroke. My neck is mildly sore -- as though I have a bruise. Nothing more. Nor am I at high risk for a stroke (i.e. no smoking, family history, high blood pressure, etc.)

My plan is to wait it out and if I start developing any stroke-like symptoms, to go to the ER. Thoughts? Any similar experiences?
