I'm twenty-one, spinster, not taking any pills save for the occasional ibuprofen, no IUDs or other such devices, also having black menstrual blood. Are any of these other women having uterine cramps, even when it's not during their period, in response to things like eating greasy foods, drinking caffeine, or having some booze in your juice? From what I can tell, that might be uterine fibroids, otherwise, we've all got necrosis of our uterine, cervical, or fallopian cells.

I am 23 years old and have had a period that is really light. However I've never had a period like this. It is really dark brown. I never cramped or was in any pain other then a bad back ache. I have had one child which it has been 6 months now. I am becoming very worried. I had regular periods after my sons birth until now. I am on the depo shot. I don't always eat healthy but I don't think I'm doing anything different! Please someone tell me something helpful. I am worried its something serious!!! :'(

Im 14 i just started having the problems today Friday, August 07, 2009 and i didn't have a period for about 8 months AFTER having a regular period it randomly stopped . Then it came back, and i thought it would Be a regular period but it seems too be having a Brownish black Discharge. Im not experiencing any cramps or pain, or mood swings. But its bothering me , is there something up with me or is it something harmful. Dose anyone have any information?

I'm 17 and lately something has been getting to me. This week I started my peirod and it's only been about 4 weeks since I had my usual monthly thing. That was fine, but now it's black and I guess you could say "cottage cheese" like. I know that when its "cottage cheese" like its some kind of infection, but what about the black part? I'm so confused. Should I go to the doctor? Is it normal? I'm kind of freaing out to the extreme.

Seems a lot of woman are going through a similar thing and not getting any answers. I am 24 years old and this is the first time my period has started off brown. Usually it is red blood for 2-3 days then brown for 1-2 days but this time it was brown for 2 days seemed to go away for 2 days now its back. Clueless to what is going on.

i am 22, never been pregnant, and i have been on 4 different birth control pills for the last 4 years. since i started BC pills, my mentration has been thicker, and it has gotten even thicker and browner the past 9 months (since i've been on the latest pill, loestrin 24). i already pretty much know that i have endometriosis, even though i have not had any tests for it (doctors always tell me that i'm too young or that it doesn't matter until i'm trying to get pregnant). i also just researched polycystic ovarian syndrome, and i have many of those symptoms as well. i will have an appointment with my gynecologist in a few months, and i will be monitoring all symptoms until then so i can talk to my doctor about it. i read that for some people who do not ovulate (such as people on BC), menstruation becomes thicker and darker, but it can also mean different problems, so everyone here should talk to their doctors about it, and make sure you know what to ask about and what to tell them. do a little research before talking to your doctor.

i am 21 years yound i have a three year old. i miss my period every other month. it was good in dec, and january then i didnt get it in feb. i got it in march. but not april. now its may i got it but it was vey dark almost black. its been 3 weeks now it hasnt stopped its really light but a light brown like discharge but darker.

I'm 12 years old (probably the youngest one on this thread!) And I'm very new to this period thing... Like... 2 hours new! I saw a brown spot in my undies and I got a little worried about possible infection, but I figured it was probably nothing. I went to the bathroom and saw the blood on the t.p. but it was a rusty red. Then I saw this dark glob down there and I whiped it up and It was black-ish and kinda slimey... I'm a bit worried but I'm trying to stay relaxed. The rusty color of the blood just makes me wonder if it's an infection or if this is normal... Help?

I am 24 years old, no kids, and I started to have this problem after I went on birth control. I started on the patch when I was 20 for six months and then switched to the nuva ring for another eight months or so. I was miserable on birth control, I was depressed, had headaches etc. After comming off of birth control I felt back to normal. I have not been on birth contol now for over two years, but my periods are getting worse. I always have dark discharge before the full flow, and my always regular periods are starting to become irregular. I also feel much worse when i am on my period, very tired and I get dizzy easily or when there is too much noise or thigs going on around me. The doctor says I am "normal" but I do not feel that I ever went back to the way I was before birth control. What is worse is that my gyno keeps telling me to go back on birth control!!!! I am in a commited relationship and have no need for birth conrol, but my doctor keeps urging me and makes me feel stupid for my choice. Do they get a bonus for every pill they give out?!

I'm 16. Haha uhm. I have protected sex with my boyfriend of 1 year. We use condoms & he pulls out just in case.
But anyway, I got this for the first time. I called my doctor & he said it's normal & is just "old" blood. I had a really short, heavy period last month. Like; the worst I've ever bled but the shortest period I've ever had. So apparently it's just leftover blood.(:

But yeah, don't worry too bad ladies. It's most likely just leftover blood.(:

Im 16 and havent had sex for almost a year. Im still on the depoprevera shot. I have never had my period while on the shot and i recently started bleeding and im not due for another shot for another two month. the blood is black/brown and is so thick i dont even know if i would even consider it blood......i was reading some and it could just be old blood.....but im not even supposed to be bleeding in the first place:$

I am having the same problem. I am 21 yrs old and I have no kids, I got my first IUD (Implanon) in 2008 and they just changed it out in June of 2011, I have never had any problems with it or with my period. I have had a dark bloody discharge for about 2.5 weeks now. PLEASE HELP ME....
