Burning at the urethral opening

I have a question about burning and irritation at the urethral opening. I was diagnosed with HSV about 1 1/2 years ago. It was a severe psychological problem for me but not a severe medical problem for me. I have had about 3 minor episodes since the initial episode. I developed a problem with urethral burning about 6 months later. My doctor thinks that it has nothing to do witht he above. I had all STD testing done with everything coming back negative. The problem continues. I was sent to a urologist who has yet to perform any swab or testing. He started with antibiotics, Elival therapy, and then bladder injections. I still have the problem. I am very frustrated because I don't know what to do next. I have this irritation even when I'm not urinating. It has a tendency to go away for a day or two but then it returns. It is very uncomfortable. Urine test show no infections. What do I do?

hi, i know this is kind of an old topic.... but i hope you or someone else responds to this. i am having the EXACT same problem as you. if you or anyone has any info please post it so i can know. i've had this same problem for over a year and i've taken so many different prescriptions for it and had so many doctor visits and nothing changes. i still feel the pain. =[ so i hope someone responds with some info. it would be very helpfull. thank you.

This is an old topic but for anyone who is experiencing this problem now, you may want to see an acupuncturist. I had this problem and when all western tests came back negative I was as a loss so I sought out alternative therapy. The eastern diagnosis system is amazingly complex and extremely intricate and I was able to cure this problem with acupuncture and herbs. Good luck!

I have the exact same problem as you. I was diagnosed with HSV and after the first outbreak everything was ok for a month, I then had a UTI (ecoli) which was treated with antibiotics. But ever since then (6 months) I have had a burning sensation in the urethra with clean urine cultures and all STD tests came out negative. I am just hopeless right now... I have no idea what to do and the doctors don't know either...Did you ever solve your problem?

P.S. I have not had any additional herpes outbreaks, at least not visible ones.

What herbs? And any specific kind of acupuncture treatment? To a specific area?

I am having the same problem. No infection or STDs or anything like that. I have found something that helps though. They make concentrated cranberry gel pills you can get over the counter. I take two in the morning and two at night and the symptoms go away. If I forget for a day or two, the burning comes back. This started for me around 12 months ago, wish something would make it go away for good. I have purchased the cranberry pills at costco and also a regular chain pharmacy. Hope that helps someone.

Have had similar problem. Now double rinse all laundry to remove detergent. Suggested by my pharmacist. Use only liquid detergent now
