I have been on microbid and now ciproflox and they are not working. At first they were starting to work at bit then it started again. I had a urine test done and it shows nothing. i am still going to the bathroom alot and i am drinking lots of water. Any suggestions?

How long did you take each one? When you were initially prescribed the Macrobid and Cipro, did they do a urinalysis? I dealt with this exact problem before I got my kidney surgery..I would have symptoms of a UTI and wicked bad burning, but because I drank so much water that it always showed clean..the best way to get a good accurate urine test is to hold the urine in your bladder as long as possible..like do not urinate before the test for 4-8 hours if you possibly can! Also, to help with the burning there is a medicine you can actually buy now over the counter called Phenazoypridine Hydrocloride and it helps the burning, but will turn your urine orange or red, but that is normal, but it really helps ALOT! You can find it in the womens personals isle at the drug store and they have store brands usually called "Urinary Pain Relief" or a more expense one called "Azo". As for the antibiotics, maybe try another UA , you may need a broader spectrum antibiotic or a longer course of it. I really wish you well on this, cause I dealth with it also and it was very frustrating when I knew something was wrong and yet they kept telling me it wasn't only to get soo bad that I would end up in the hospital hooked up to IV antibiotics!
