This same thing happens to me quite often. Just happened about half hour ago and now my left ear hurts pretty good like someone Poked me with a pick. I can have this happen several times a day sometimes. And at different places on my head. I don't know what kind of Dr to see with this. Feel like I am crazy telling someone about this , but it is real and real painful.

I have this as well. Though mine is not usually to turning my head. My doctor thinks it ight related to my Chiari Malformation. Its Type 1, and is e the is sized and grows down into the spinal cavity. It would have to be checked with n MRI and if it is less than 7mm they dont even it as Chiari.

It is like fireworks going off in my head with a warm radiating feeling. I don't hear any loud noises or anything like that. It just happens sometimes out of nowhere. I have to just stop for a few moments and get my senses back.

Ive had these all my life, i’ve come to call these “Head explosions” and “neck zaps” .. every now and then when I turn my head, I get what can only be described as instant burning white pain to the back of my head, physically radiating heat. More recently I’ve had random electric jolts in my neck too.

Regarding the popping and heat and tingling the spread. I've had this happen for a long time and recently done some searches on it. I've read anything from pinched or stretched nerves, bone spurs and deposits to muscle or neurological issues. I read an interesting response on Reddit of all places:
"I'm a massage therapist and studied anatomy extensively. The culprit of this feeling is your scalenes, the muscles that connect to the side of your scull and go down to your second rib and clavicle. They run along the side of your neck, imagine them like a bunch of long muscle sacks about the width of your thumb that are strung like guitar strings between your head and your body and they hold your head upright. When a muscle is tight it becomes stiff and the blood can't wash away the lactic acid (a waste product of muscle movement) like it usually does so the muscle becomes kind of stuck in place. Kind of crunchy and acidic. Eww. The twangy pinch that you feel is a scalene muscle dislodging from its crunchy, acidy spot and moving over to another spot because your head turned so fast. If your muscles hadn't been all stiff and acidic the muscle would have just slid over easily but because everything's crunchy and tight it kinda has to twang over there and that hurts. There is also a lot of pressure points in your neck (overly sensitive spots like the one between your thumb and pointer finger, check that sh*t out, crazy) and sometimes the scalene muscle runs over or into one of those causing an extra sharp ouch. Also, that "filling your neck with hot blood" sensation is when there was literally a pocket of built up lactic acid that you literally popped and now your bloodstream can carry it away and filter it out of your body. It feels hot and acidy because... It's acid."

While I take issue with some parts, I do think this is worth a second look. I was a double major in chemistry/biology emphasizing in healthcare until i went back to school for engineering. I've beat the hell out of my body and dealt with General practioners, physical therapists, chiropractors and orthopedic surgeons and massage therapists for various treatments on different parts of my body. I would say try stretching, relaxing, massaging and strengthening the muscles first as this is easiest (and cheapest) to rule out. There is a physical therapy exercise where you fold a towel to 3", put it behind your neck and pull firmly straight forward, then move your head side to side(look it up for better instructions). Do this with some rolling and other stretching and exercises and see if your pain goes away. Depending on how intense or frequent the pain is(or if it seems to be linked to other issues) see a specialist. I had a big one the other day where the heat and numbness spread over half my head and neck. I noticed just minutes afterward that there was noticeably less tension in my neck muscles on the right side. I will be trying the stretching because of this. Just my 2 cents.

I don't know but for me it is a simple burn sensation, then dizzy, then it is like nothing ever happed. I don't mind this though because after I feel relaxed also I can game for hours at a time and it may be severe but normally it happens at school I don't pay much attension to it but I just came here so I would find an answer.
