Well am I glad I found this. I am 45, female and this is happening to me approx every week for the past few months. Its worrying me. Dr said could be glue ear, but ears are clear but looked at me with a glazed expression when I described it. I have never had injuries but since being 18 suffered from migraine with aura and aura and wondered if linked. The migraines affect speech, concentration, there is tingling and numbness and  zig zags in eyes, always starts on the left side, where this has been happening. Wish we could get answer

I have had this happen to me. It hasn't happened in a long time, but as a child it happened often. My mom has had the same thing happen to her. I don't know what it is and would also be very intrusted in finding out what it is.

I have this same feeling too.  Today at school I had a snap in the back of my head right side when I turned my head too quickly.  It felt like a steak of lightning going through the base of my skull up to the center of my brain like fire burning.  It put me in tears and my teacher & friends didn't know what I was talking about.  My mom gets this too.

I get this too, since I was a child, I am 47 now..seems like nobody knows what I am speaking of either. I may get them once every 3 months or sometimes like the other day twice in one day, It really comes on quick and burns like crazy, can be anywhere on my head not in same place, can last a few seconds for a mild one up to 20 or 30 for a bad one. Wish we could get some answers.

Ginaw1028I, too had this quite often as a child. I have not had it happen in a long time but just as everyone else said it would be a odd turn followed by the feeling of warm liquid and I would freeze. Uhg. it was awful.

I too have experienced this exact same sensation since I was a young child. It used to always happen when I shook my head side to side when getting out of the pool and it would make a crackling noise but after the warm tingling creeped up the back of my head, about ten seconds into it, the sensation would fade away like nothing happened. Im 28 now and habe suddenly begun to feel cramping and crackling in what seems to be the same mechanism responsible for the burning as a kid, only now it's persistant, especially in the morning and when I lean my head back against a chair or head rest. If anyone has seen a doctor for this please let me know what is causing this. Thanks P.S. I also used to assume everyone experienced this, and only recently have learned that noone knows what Im talking about. Our similarities with this pain is uncanny in every way!

Thanks for this explanation. It makes sense and funny this happened to me just a few minutes ago and so decided to google it. I teach yoga and taught 2 classes today which involved many movements of the neck & so perhaps that brought it on. I have had this happen to me all my life once or twice a yr. and I'm 58 now.

mine is not related to turning my head, but rather at my pc too long (over an hour) it feels like a torch it is so hot. I get relief when I turn cold water on my head or put an ice cube to my ear. I have diabetes they say it plays with the nerves. Funny, I can watch tv for hours and it never happens.

I've had this since I was a child also. I turn my neck suddenly and as far as I can remember its always the left side of my head. It feels like a tight band of hot burning pain from my neck sometimes into my tongue and up my scalp. It does last for about five or ten seconds and scares me everytime. Everything most of you said has happened to me. Two days ago it happened at work also and I tried to explain it, and ask if others had. One woman had kind of something like this happen to her. The rest of my co-workers were like "what are you talking about. It is random and usually once or twice a year.

This post is so interesting to me. I have had this issue my whole life...i will be 48 next month. It happens when I turn my head and it actually hurts at first. Then it kind of burns and just dissapates....its odd and I have never met anyone that understands what I am talking about!
