I am 48 and probably at the beginning of the premenopausal stage. I've had 2 recurring unpleasant things happen over the last 5 - 6 months, and they are around the time of ovulation.

The first is that my urine gets very strong and burns my vagina. The act of urinating isn't causing the burning; it's the urine. Seems like diaper rash. I did a 3 day treatment of Monostat, at my GP's advice and the symptom returned this month. It lasts about 3 days. I've used A&D ointment as a barrier, which helps but doesn't solve the problem. This has occurred regularly for the last 4 - 5 months and is around the time of ovulation.

The second is that I get a pain in my hip. I've gone to my GP, had x-rays, seen an Orthopedist, and started Physical Therapy. Up until the PT, there was no apparent cause. The PT thinks that during ovulation, my body feels pressure and adjusts it's alignment to relieve the pressure. She said a hormone may be triggered which tells my body to adjust. Currently, my body is very out of alignment and the pain gets worse each month. This pain has happened regularly for the last 5 - 6 months and is also around the time of ovulation.

Does it sound like these are homone related? What type of doctor should I be seeing and what type of treatment may be best?

I have the same thing before ovulation, it happens especially in the morning and then it seems to go away. I recommend drinking non-acid juices, and not drinking coffee on those days especially (at least wait till you feel better). You can drink cranberry juice, it's very good for the kidneys. Maybe you don't drink enough wate as wellr? And maybe your back problems come from the same place, your kidneys. I also am more subject to back problems before my period. So exercise even if you feel strain, walk of bike around, I tell myself it will be gone once I menstruate, usually it does on the first day. Just curious, Have you noticed you face swelling aroung the time of ovulation?

I get the burning (and itching) every month during ovulation. I have for many months now. If I drink a couple of glasses of cranberry juice at the first sign, it goes away in no more than two days. If I don't drink the juice, I am miserable for days.
