I had a ultrasound recently when i was 17 1/2 weeks and they found calcium deposits in my baby's heart. He told me not to worry although it can be a sign of down syndrome but because im only 21 years old its a rare chance that my baby will have this defect. It usually occurs in women older than I.

Thanks Roxi~~ I am a 40 yr. old and am almost 6 mths pregnant. I had a Dr. issue and never got to have my u/s testing done in the earlier weeks of pregnancy, so when I went last week there it was the dreaded bright spot on one of the chambers of the heart. Talk about devastated, but this will be my 4th child and my previous children came into this world healthy. My youngest just turned 2 and she is doing well :D They are sending me to the city for more thorough exams this week, I just can't help not being somewhat concerned. Your post however did make me feel somewhat better! :) Keeping my heart full of good thoughts for this lil' princess due on July 4th

Don't be too worried if the Calcium deposit still shows up on your echocardiogram, im 22 and my baby has had the same calcium spot since we first looked at the heart. I just had my echocardiogram done at 25 weeks and it is still there. My doctor reassured me that because my test results came back negative it only raises the chance by a little. And that since everything else in my anatomy ultrasound looked fine there is no concern for alarm. Believe me I know its hard not to rack your brains out about it but don't wory yourself too mutch, there is no garuntee of either and stress is never good for you or your baby.

If your child is a teenager then they required lots of calcium and protein because they have to do struggle in their life other wise it appears so weak in day to day life so care for your child as much as possible is required very much .

hi am 24 weeks pregnant and i just found out that the soft mark that they had found on my baby's heart was calcium my doctor said that would increase the chances of down syndrome but today i found out my down syndrome test came out negative and since am 21 years old and all my baby test came out just fine its a really low chance for my baby to be born with down syndrome but i still have one more test to go i hope everything comes out to be just fine.....

I too at 19 weeks was told my little girl had a light that showed present in the heazt at the US she was born normal and all is well, however for the last few pediatrican visits they said they've heard a heart murmmor so we are a little worried, my little girl just turned two in December. We've scheduled an appointment with the cardiologist for the end of January, I am very positive things are fine. Not sure if the light they saw then has anything to do with the murmor or not but thought I would throw that out there.

I'm almost 31 years old and pregnant with my 3rd child. I have a healthy daughter and a healthy son.
I'm 18 weeks and went in for my "big" ultrasound today. Everything looks perfect and we found out
we're having another girl.
Towards the end of the ultrasound the tech mentioned seeing something that she wanted to point
out, but she didn't want to scare me.
There was a bright calcium spot on the heart. And I could see it on the ultrasound when she showed us.
Of course, i was initially concerned, but after talking to my dr and praying about it I feel very much at peace.
We will go to a specialist to do the Level 2 ultrasound (as suggested by my dr).
But I want to say thank you for all of these posts. Even the 20+ year experienced ultrasound tech reassured
me by saying that she's never had the calcium spot alone come back as positive DS.
All other of our measurements were perfect. This is just one of the times I'm handed a lemon, and I will for sure
make lemonade!!

I am 32 years old. I am pregnant with my first child. I was also told that there was calcium found in one of the muscles in my baby's heart/valve. I was reading the risk of other women and their risks are very low compared to mine. My risk is 1/142. I was wondering if there is anyone pregnant or anyone who knows someone with a risk factor close to mine and how did things turn out for them? Worried and concerned first time mommy.

Hello Mommy's!
I'm 20yrs just turned 23wks today! On Monday May 7th I went for my ultrasound I found out I was expecting a baby boy! I was asking the lady if everything looked ok with my bby she responded " the doctor will take a look at the ultrasound pictures and shewill answer all your questions! From that moment I knew something was wrong cause that had never happend! So the doctor came in and she told me my screening test came out good! My baby look good but they found this white bright spot on his heart that made me break down! She told me not to worry about it they find those bright spots often on baby's hearts! She said she was sending me to a specialist! So I went on Friday! They took a look at him from head to toes! He looked very good without any abnormalities! So after I spoke to a genetic counselor and she said my risks of having my bby with DS was very low cause of my age, my screening came out good the ultrasound didn't show any abnormalities! But I still cant be at peace I ask myself why does it have that white spot also known as Intracardiac Echogenic Focous (ICEF) They said my chances are 1 in 10,000.... Im so worried :'(

hello, i am 20 years old, first time mommy, and on my ultra sound they found a suspicious white spot on the babys heart as well. I went back for a follow up and they said it was the muscle in the heart. Then the thirs ultra sound they brought this spot up again. I am very worried but my doctor said if she felt as though it was something to worry about then she would send me for more tests. I just pray that my baby is healthy and hopefully that the doctors are right. I am trying soooooo hard not stress but its soooo hard =[. I was also told if defects were to come up the ultrasound would have more markers rather than just one.
