Hi there Molly! You should know that it is always best to bring someone along to the surgery to help you with the paper work or drive you home if necessary.
Although some people do drive themselves home after the surgery, this is not recommended. Those who do drive do so because they see well on the other eye and haven’t any medications. If you are going to have a surgery on both eyes, you should definitely bring someone along.
The thing is that your vision will probably be blurred, especially if you had surgery on both eyes. This is because of the microscopes lights that are very bright and due to dilating drops.
You may also see those big halos around lights because if your dilated pupils but that should wear off soon after.
A patient may se vision improvement within 24 hours following surgery. You may be able to drive then.
