Can I Pass a Cotinine test?

You are absolutly right!! it's a shame. and I do believe when you test your son for the nicotine get his dad to watch him pee or atleast stand behind him to watch if he pulls something out. also you can smell his hair, you can speak to his friends family, at this age they fear of embarssment so scare him and tell him you will speak to all his friends parents including his friends so they don't let you smoke. I smoked since I was 13 y/o I feel awful of this, I finally quit and I feel soo much better. now I am 23 y/o and can run and exercise again. NEVER give up on your son, you are doing the right thing, even if he reads this c**p still you will find out one day, as an RN I tell you there is no way he will be able to drink one gallon a day till he becomes 18. try also to switch the days you test him. do not do it exactly after 3 days, give him one wek and tell him no i won't test you so he feels safe, then test him as this sounds bad but nobody is going to advocate for him except you. I am honered to give you advise and I am honered that you look after your family.

thank you, going thru process and worried about it. had another RT tell me he quit 8 days and drank gallon of water a day and passed. glad to hear another person. I quit today and have 10 days before test. need this job at Clinic

The cotinine can only be detected in your blood for about 2 days, but that doesn't mean that your blood is clean. Your kidneys pull trace amounts of cotinine from your blood and sends it to your urine. That basically concentrates the cotinine from your entire body into your urine. Since your urine contains concentrated levels of cotinine, it can be detected for about a week longer than in blood.

I have a blood nicotine test for my surgery..is there a way to speed up the detox process for a blood test instead of a urine test?? How long should I not smoke before the test?? Im taking 1000 mg of vitamim c three times a day, 1000 mg of niacin every four hours,drinking a gallon of water a day...please help??

I have to take a cotitine test also to have the weight loss surgery.  I smoked a pack of cigarettes a day for 20 years.  2 weeks ago I went down to 5 cigs a day.  I stopped smoking altogether last Sunday.  I bought some cotitine tests from Amazon (10 for $9).  I have tested my urine every day since then.  As of last night (day 4), I am still showing positive for cotitine.  One of the reviews on Amazon said day 5 is the day.  I will post an update tomorrow -- or daily until it comes clean.  I have been on Chantix for about 6 weeks.  Honestly, not smoking is not difficult with the Chantix.

Did you do anything to pass other than no ciggs? Im a half pack a day and have to pass a blood test.

To update my previous post -- the test strips I bought off Amazon showed an "all clear" of Cotitine today.  I have not smoked a cigarette for 6 days.  As I said before, I was a pack a day smoker for 20 years and over the past couple of weeks had cut it down to just a couple a day.  6 days ago, I quit smoking altogether.  I did not drink an excessive amount of fluids -- just regular amounts.  I didn't drink anything (like some people were saying cranberry juice, etc.).  Also, I am a menthol cigarette smoker (not sure if that matters).  So, trusting the cotitine tests that I bought, I went and had my blood work done at hospital this morning.  I will update as to what the hospital test comes back.  It was a urine test.

Does the Cleveland Clinic do Urine or Blood testing for nicotine ? And did you pass ?

I had a failed spinal fusion nicotine keeps bones from fusing together ,waste of time doing another surgery unless I quit finally quit with Chantix and quit taking Chantix after ten days when I went four days without smoking I figured worst part was over still have not smoked and hope I have helped 14 days cig free just bubble gun hummus worms and ice breaker sours. GOD I hope I am smart enough to never go back I an 42 and smoked at least a pack a day since 12 yrs old

I promise, I understand ... can you find anyone that did not take all their Chantix that is the ONLY thing that helped me I have been quit for 12 days now and I still want to smoke but it's like I want some chicken rather than I will steal a cigarette if I have to and yes it used to be that bad I cussed everyone in hospital out and husband brought me a vapor and that shut me up ...I understand
