Hi, guys. My friend has been diagnosed with nocardiosis and as I can see, this is not something to joke with. I wonder if sulfanamides can be used to fight against this disease. I would really appreciate if you could tell me something more about this. Your help will be more than welcomed.

Hi, there. You are right. Sulfonamides are necessary for fighting the infection. This treatment must last for a longer period of time. It will last for at least six months. If the case is more serious, then a person can continue with low dose of this antibiotic. If a patient does not respond well to sulfonamides, then other antibiotics must be added. Those would be: erythromycin, ampicilin, etc. I hope your friend will be all right. Bye!

Hello, guys. I have read this and I agree. Sulfonamides are indeed first antibiotics to be used here. However, if a person has an abscess or something similar, this won’t be enough. Then, a surgery must be performed for draining the abscess. One should be patient with entire process of treatment. My brother in law had nocardiosis. He was treated for more than 6 months. I hope this helps. Bye!
