Hello, folks. My friend recommends me to vaccinate my child with Prevnar. I am thinking about it,, but I am still not sure. I wonder if this vaccine can have any serious side effects or not. I am concerned about my child’s safety. I hope someone will know to answer me about this. Thanks.

Hello. Prevnar is a vaccine for the diseases caused by streptococcus pneumoniae. These bacteria can cause pneumonia, meningitis and bacteremia (bacteria in bloodstream). I think there are no very serious side effects of Prevnar. They are usual as for every other vaccine. Some of them are: drowsiness, restless sleep, skin rash, vomiting and diarrhea. In any case, you should consult your kid’s pediatrician. See what he recommends. I hope everything will be all right. Let me know what you decide. Good luck!
