I am almost 38 weeks pregnant and had my surgery 8 days ago. My first (and only real) BM was Monday. That was so painful and long that I really don't know how I managed to finally do it. Since then, I have not had another one. I did have a little bit a diareha the next day but it wasn't significant. I'm not sure what to do. I feel constantly bloated and miserble and have the urge to go but cannot bring myself to do it once i get on the toilet. I am in agony. I am taking Milk Of Magnesia and stool softeners, and when I eat I try to make sure it's high in fiber. I do not have a good support system in my household. I don't have much to eat around the house except apples and cannot leave the house to buy anything else. My doctor in no way told me about the severe pain this would cause me afterwards. What I am really scared about is that I am having a c-section in 10 days. From what I am reading, I will probably not be recovered by then. I will also have the pain from that surgery to deal with not to mention a newborn. I am a single mother and I am really really scared. The doctor that performed this operation on me as been no help. He admited to me that he has a problem due to I am on medicaid insurance and do not have to pay for anything. I feel like I cannot call him with any of my problems. I do not know what to do at this point. I know I have to use the bathroom but simply cannot. I am also vommiting and feeling very very depressed. I don't know how to keep going like this. Can anyone please help me?

Wow, I'm so sorry to hear you're having such a rough time. But vomiting with severe constipation is not a good sign, it tends to mean obstruction. This could be caused by your surgery, the pregnancy or something else. Only one way to find out and that is to see you doctor immediately. Go to the ER if you have to. Treatment could be as simple as an enema, but you really need to go to the hospital.

1st of all honey I'm sending out HUGE hugs and love to you! Now I will tell you ways to have a easy BM and this will help you after baby!

When you have to go I want you to sit on the toilet with your big toes over each other and bring out your heels as far as possible /\ leen forward - as much as you can - and put your elbows on your knees and relax! start breathing through your mouth and do not think about what is about to happen! try and keep your bm out of your mind! and let it happen slowly! IF it is jammed use your hand to press on each side of your anus to gentlly ease it out!! Take Omega 3 oils and flax oil! This will really loosen up your poop! ALSO know that just before you go into delivery you body starts getting ready, so you can have constipation right now and just before you are due you have diareha, so it starts the movement!

You are vommiting because you are worried, overwhelmed and feeling ill! I WANT you to call him and get some answers and DEMAND that he see you and take care of you because you ARE his patient! I am surprised he even did this surgery with you having a baby on the way! I want you to get some help from a doctor! Do you have a food bank near you? Also do you have a planned parenthood centre near you as well? You NEED to get some good nutrition in you - which will help your BM's! Try and see what supports are out there for you - via a social worker or someone from Planned Parenthood, that can set you up with some help after baby comes! Has anyone come forward about helping you after your C-Section, you will need help for about 6 weeks!

I know this is FAR beyond what you asked about, BUT what is going to happen after baby comes honey? I will talk to you about anything honey! But first I want you to phone the food bank, welfare, planned parenthood and find out what help there is for you OK? Lots of hugs and let me know whats going on OK?
