I had a colpo a fee days ago and had the same thing happen. A skin sac looking discharge with coffee ground material in it. It's nothing to worry about and is completely normal :) despite its skin like appearance, it is actually coagulated blood. The coffee ground material is the medication administered to your cervix to aid in the suppresion of bleeding. The cervix doesn't scab the same as we would find on the exterior parts of our body. The skin like material is basically a cervial scab that sloughs off. It's your body's response to the trama done to your cervix. It's simply trying to heal itself. I hope that rests your mind :)

I had a colposcopy 5 days ago and have been experiencing finding stuff that looks like small pieces of light colored tissue covered in brown stuff when wiping, or just brown stuff (looks like poo or dried blood). Now I read that this is normal? My question is - Why the hell don't they just tell you?? What would it really take for them to just mention this so you don't think your uterus has decided to disintegrate, or there is a hole letting fecal matter pass through it, or some other thing you might imagine when thoroughly freaked out? I mean, all the thoughts that have been passing through my mind - is it bodily tissue, did he accidentally leave his notepaper up in there when taking notes, do they stuff tissue up in you, do I have a hole in me, did it induce my period early? Is something wrong? It would literally take them 10 seconds to mention this! Also, I ruined two pairs of undies with this orange discharge - must be iodine and some blood. Why not supply ONE PAD for you so your freaking undies don't get ruined? I honestly don't know what this world is coming to. Doctors just don't really care about people anymore like they did in the past. I mean, any one of the people at their office could have mentioned this - the doc, the assistant, the checkout lady - OR just give you a pamphlet! I mean, it must be sheer laziness or lack of care because anyone could find a simple way to inform you if they actually cared.

I had my biopsy and cervical scraping on Wednesday. Its now Sunday. First of all, it was just as unpleasant as it sounds. Next to child birth it was the most painful experience I've ever had.

Afterwards I had no bleeding. I did have the "coffee grounds" they warm you about. More than anything my vagina has felt swollen, angry, and closed up. I was too scared to even go near it til Saturday.

During my shower I decided to feel up there just to clean and/or assess the situation. I was scared this was going to be painful. It was not, but I could feel "something" still up there. It felt to me like gauze or paper, and a very big piece.

After getting on here and a fee other sites, I'm guessing its just liquid bandage. Most people say theirs just came out. Mine seems pretty stuck in there. I want to pull it out, but I'm worried I will pull a scab off and/or hurt myself.

Very useful to know as this happened and I thought exactly the same,, that I'd had a miscarriage.. I didn't think I was pregnant and I was completely freaked out and in shock as I thought maybe I had been pregnant without realising and the colposcopy had cause a miscarriage. I was told I would bleed maybe for a few days but was not made aware of passing really weird discharge in a sac looking skin.

Omg, I am so happy I read your post. This happened to me this morning after having my colposcopy done last Wednesday. You really put my mind at ease because I have been freaking out all day and begin to think of the worst. Luckily, I took a picture of it just so I could show my GYN. So happy to see that I am not alone. Thank you so so much :)

Thank you lades so much for sharing. I just woke up a 4am to use the restroom and had this happen to me. The only thing Im worried about now is that I feel a slight stabbing pain the the vaginal area...not my abdomen. Anyone else experience that???

Hi gals, had a colposcopy Thursday and exact same thing happened to me. Long story short, take an anti inflammatory for the burning! It stopped it completely for me.

My experience : About an hour or so after the biopsy, I started to get uncomfortable. It felt like a urinary burning so I went to the bathroom. The burning increased drastically and at that point I knew it wasn't urinary, it felt like my entire vagina was having an allergic reaction. Until this, I had never cried from pain (as an adult). I called my Dr's office in tears, they recommended a vinegar based douche which sounded awful. I hung up and spent the next few minutes close to screaming in pain, at this point my labia and vagina had swollen and become hard. I took 3 advil (anti-inflammatory) 1 over the recommended dose but I was desperate, and the burning started to subside after a few minutes. I was still swollen for the next 12 hours and then yellow skin-tight discharge began. After my experience, I'm convinced it was an actual layer of skin, it literally felt like the iodine was burning my skin off. 2 days later Im still removing chunks (your body will try to do this naturally of course).

Dr's couldn't know why that happens to us, right? Or else they would have told us what to expect.. Right??

Hi Ladies. It is totally normal And to be expected. I had the procedure done last week and I was told by my doctor to expect that tissue like scab to come out within the week. It is from the medication they applied after bird to stop bleeding.

I had a colposcopy on Tuesday and it's now Friday, both yesterday and today I passed large amounts of tissue but today it looked like the entire lining of my cervix. Why don't doctors inform their patients about this if it's normal and pregnant women I don't recommend getting this done what if it caused a miscarriage!

Dear sweet merciful c**p?!?! I had a colposcopy on Tuesday its now Friday and while using the bathroom a freaking prop from alien vs predator drops out of my vagina. Uhmmmm "coffee grounds" my foot! It looked like a different life form. Twice I've been deceived by my ob. First time was "little pinch" What she should have said is I'm going to rip your cervix out with this terrifying tool okay now take a deep breath. Then you'll have minimal discharge that looks like coffee grounds not your vagina will purge something from the depths of hell that even Satan would wince at. Being a girl BLOWS, seriously. Unreal.

PS I love my ob and she's wonderful I just wish she was a little more realistic. I was grateful for the pad they provided me and Motrin after the cramping began

Oh my god. This thread just gave me so much relief. I just found the same thing but had a colposcopy about six days ago. It looked like a wrinkled sock/tissue the size of my palm and freaked me out. Although I feel fine and am not experiencing any pain. So happy i found this thread it was more helpful than talking to my doctor.

This makes me so relieved. I had a colposcopy a week ago. Today I used the bathroom, wiped, and saw this two inch long, yellowish/grayish sack looking thing with the coffee ground blood inside. I flipped thinking it was a miscarriage but I was 99.9% sure I wasn't pregnant. It must has just been from the stuff they used to help it heal. The doctor did not warn me about this at all.. Which is weird because this is not like normal clotting at all. I've never seen anything so weird looking.

My doc downplayed this too. No thorough talk of the after. Just discharge. This is truly freaky and it's like my body is a foreign object to me. I was so upset I left work and crawled into bed to cry. I understand the necessity of this procedure but the emotional side is hard to deal with too. As women we get our sense of femininity from our breasts, our skin, smoke, eyes, hair and yup there's a song about our hooh hahhs 'p' control. And now it's just broken. And did I say freaky. Like wtf is happening down there. I'm even afraid to go near it and dreading the next time will go near it. I'm mortified
