Thank Goodness For THE WEB! I have been freaking out and looked it up! This is the site i found the info. It was a blog as well. ***edited by moderator*** web addresses not allowed

It may be caused by the vinegar they administer in the beginning. The lady stated that sometimes the skin reacts to the vinegar and then sheds a layer of skin.
Hope this helps. Ill still be calling my doctor in the morning!!!!

Laughing! Yea, I was about to file a suit for my doc leaving a latex glove in me! I had mine Thursday (it's Saturday) and haven't had much going on. I called my mom (I'm 34 years old!) all upset and worried that she left a glove in me and I would catch an infection if there was more up in there. Not to be gross, but I really didn't smell bad so I wasn't sold on an infection but still had me freaking out. It baffles me that they don't warn you of this either. Maybe an OBGYN inside joke on this. Seems to happen alot from all teh websites I searched on tonight. Should file the suit on my peace of mind being rattled if anything. Anyway, I will reiterate the many thanks to all of you who posted such personal and disgusting comments of our womanhood and being honest about it. My fiance wasn't as understanding and interested in the details. HA!

I experienced the same thing..called nurse this morning.. This discharge is from what they put on the area to stop bleeding and promote healing.. This substance slowly leaves the body in that nasty, chicken skin form.. I agree, they should warn about this - totally frightening and gross!

I had a colposcopy and biopsy yesterday and today i had a very dark brown - tissue like discharge on my tissue.. mine has been this dark brown since i had it, i only had the yellowish for about an hour... they said i have to have surgery to correct it but they are sending my tissue samples to the labs to figure out exactly what is wrong - fingers crossed!

Had a colp done Thursday and same thing happened to me earlier today. Totally freaked me out! Thank you all for the posts you left because now I know that I'm not the only one experiencing this large chunk of skin-like discharge......must be a "normal" side effect from the colp.

I had my 2nd colpo done on Friday and today is Sunday and I had a large chunk of tissue come out. (size of a silver dollar or so)

the first colpo I ever had about 4-5 years ago, I never remember having this happen so this time around I was freaked out. But apparently it's normal according to what you're all saying! Mine was very slightly yellow/off white tinted with a couple speckles in it. Glad to know this is normal thanks everyone

Thank the good LORD I found these posts! I just fished this nasty discharge out of the toilet and was about to take it to the Gyno's office tomorrow! They did NOT tell me about anything like that coming out, I'm pretty upset they wouldn't warn us about that, it's really creepy! I still feel kind of nervous about it, but at least I know I am not the only one so that makes it a little better....good grief, these doctors need to be more honest about the after math!

oh thank you thank you thank you for these posts!! i to was told the same things most of you were told by doc and even in a little packet they gave me but never did anyone or anything say this would happen. i had my colpo and biopsy done on wednesday and my chunk came out friday night in shower while i was washing. i think we all kinda assumed we'd see some black, yucky stuff come out but not in giant chunks like these. shocked and disapointment that i had tell my poor husband this nasty news and then he had to calm me down (poor poor guy). the thing that bothers me is that i can't even reach my doc until monday. she's def going to hear about this! good thing i didn't rush to the emergency room. i am 7 months prego so the whole thing was very scary!!! i still feel sick (lets hope my husband can still touch me after this, lol) and i really hope this is the worst of it. insane! thanks again gals so so so much!!

Yuck, same thing here. I can't believe they don't tell you this will happen. I was told the same thing as everyone else--light bleeding or coffee grounds--not a huge chunk that looks like skin. Google, you're my friend

i think it is great to talk about experiences with eachother but i am a little shocked that none of you actually found out or even appeared to try to. i am waiting to hear back from the doctor who did mine. just because it is common- certainly does not make it ok to assume it is nothing. come on women! educate yourselves.

I had my colposcopy on a Tuesday.  The doctor told me that this was "just an office procedure" and "not a big deal".  The procedure itself took only 15 minutes and the vinger solution burned when applied during the procedure.  The doctor/nurse told me to expect brownish drainage for about 2 days and told me that I would need to wear a pad for a couple of days.   The solution that was used to stop the bleeding of the biopsy site performed during the procedure (i.e. Monsel's solution) burned my vagina and labia severely for the next 2 days as it dripped out of me.  For the 2 days after the procedure, I did not have any cramping or bleeding, but had severe burning in my vagina and on my labia.  The solution then turned to a brown, hardened glaze which coated my vagina and labia and was very uncomfortable--it still burned and was very hard, feeling like cement.  My area was nearly "cemented" shut with this stuff and I could not even fit a pinky finger up "there".  I called my doctor's office and they were not able to offer any advice.  I tried on numerous occcasions to soak in a tub and tried to pick the hardeded yellow/brown glaze out of me, but only felt about 50% relieved.  On the 3rd day after the procedure, I was able to go about my usual daily functions without the burning sensation which had been problematic for me, but I still felt as if I had a hardened tampon somewhere up there, but was tired of "picking" that stuff out of my vagina.  Exactly one week after my procedure, I experienced cramping and when I was in the bathroom bearing down for a bowel movement, I felt like a tampon was protruding out.  I reached my finger up there and pulled out a very large, long,  thick tan sack-like object about the the size and shape of a DVD remote.  Once I saw this, I nearly passed out--it was so disguisting.  It was thick, tan, and one end actually looked like a fish spine with eyelash-like indentations and the other end had coffee-ground like material.   I haven't had sexual intercourse, or douched, or put anything up in my vagina since the procedure .  I am having a lot of cramping (no bleeding) now and am very disturbed about what just came out of me.  The doctor never prepared me for this.  My vagina has a metallic-like smell and from what I understand the Monsel's solution is made of a iron substance.  From what I understand this substance that came out of me is a combination of the following: sloughing of cervical tissue from a reaction to the vinger solution, some paste-like material from the Monsel's solution, and some blood clots from the procedure.  Thank goodness for this blog site!  Doctor's should be required to inform women of the truth of what to expect after this procedure....

Hello Ladies! and thank you for posting your experiences, def. helped me out.

The night after my colp I was at work and feeling like I had a tampon stuck up there, after chatting with a few of my coworkers, I found out that almost all of them had had the procedure as well, though not sure if they had a biopsy done, no warning on what the next week would bring! The next morning I wake up to a cement vagina. I freaked, I was also using metrogel for a BV, which I told the doctor at the time of the colp, and she said that was fine. It was sat. so I called a doctor (my doctor was unreachable), and went through the whole ugly description with an on call nurse, she said she had never heard of anything like that before (cement like - dry - burning - grey - etc.) I was trying my best to keep it cool, but the nurse told me it sounded like I was having an allergic reaction probably caused by the metro gel, but certainly not the colp and biop.  Her advice? Leave it alone, if it gets worse go to the ER. I was boarding a flight later that day and decided I needed piece of mind more than anything, so I went to Urgent Care. The UC doctor seemed to know a good deal about colposcopies and (after barely getting up there) in the end told me it looked like I had a chemical burn from the vinegar and Monsel's solution. Ouch. He said it was not entirely normal, but semi-common. Still not sure if this is actually what I had, because it went away within a few days, but I got the piece of mind I needed.  Today is the 10th day since I had the procedure and I'm starting to get the discharge.  Not looking forward to what comes out, but glad I'm not alone.  I am amazed I wasn't told anything about this and will be going over this with my doc. when I get my results back.  Will be reposting her answers to my questions on Friday.
