Just experienced the freaky "what the hell is that?!?!?!?" discharge you all have described! I immediately ran to computer to look up! Found this, feel better! Same deal, had colposcopy 3 days ago and now today......after urinating, the disgusting matter was there! Freaked me out and NO my gyn never mentioned...said some bleeding/brownish but not "this". WTF? Hoping for good results, for all of you as well.

i just had my 4th colposcopy on monday but it was the first time they had used the monsels. im also 10 weeks pregnant. i was told that it would only come out like coffee grounds but when i had just went to the rest room i had pulled out a skin-tissue type substance and began to worry. i have no cramping or bleeding but i would like to know if this is normal and or safe with my baby. any answers??

Had my colposcopy with biopsy Monday. They warned me about there being some discharge, but I didn't have any. But then I got home and it burned when I went to the bathroom. I called the doctor the next day and the nurse suggested I have a UTI. I had to explain, "No this is not a UTI. It's not burning at the urethra... it's like I have a chemical burn." Burning went away after a day or so....
but then today, I passed the Monsel's Solution in clumps. I was walking outside and it felt like when you have a dry tampon inside of you. The thing I pulled out was horrifying, not because of its size or color or smell... but because it had what I can only assume is the texture of my vaginal walls or something... like some weird alien pockmarked thing that looked like a brain coral. The first piece was about the size of a quarter coin.
About 30 minutes later, a second piece came out but it looked like an umbilical cord or something... about 4 or 5 inches long. Fortunately, I'd already Googled it and found out what it was or else I'd have thought I'd had a miscarriage.
I know not everywhere has this happen to them, but I'm probably going to tell my doctor that she needs to do a better job of mentioning this as a possible outcome because it's just that disturbing!

Had colposcopy two days ago. Only brush biopsy, which shouldn't have caused much, if any, bleeding to be concerned about. Doctor did not tell me about Monsel's paste, nor discharge of same. Figured it out via internet research (and tell me exactly why these ridiculous doctors/nurses don't take a minute to explain all this??), when I noticed metallic smell, bits of nasty "goo", etc. I am concerned about getting all this out of me. A large piece was discharged today; how long before it is completely out? I'd appreciate comments on this, because I am completely disgusted by the stuff, don't really think it was necessary in my case (had no bleeding, no real invasive biopsy, etc. and had read articles that Monsel's is often not needed for brush biopsy). This complete lack of appropriate communication from doctor is unacceptable and unprofessional.

I am so relieved I found this sight and reading all the posts!!! I was on the verge of tears and complete melt down. I had the procedure done Tuesday and was only told of coffee like grounds in urine. Used the bathroom today and the tissue like stuff just came out!! Thanks to so many of you willing to post, but I still wish the doctor had given me a better heads up!!

Thank you for the info, I thought something was wrong with me the way I've been smelling, it is really bad & my procedure was on Monday just gone, how long dose the smell last, should I go to the doctors or how bad is the smell meant to be before you know something is wrong but all the comments have put me at ease

I know this is a very late response, but I just now started looking for similar experiences! I haven't had any discharge, but just pulled a string of the tissue stuff out and freaked out. I also started digging around a bit on my own but got scared I was making it worse!! Did everything turn out ok with you?
