I've had numerous colposcopies and never saw this before! So glad I saw this forum!!!

Thank god for this site, especially for this answer! Same exact thing as mine- told me about the discharge but not about the skin-like thing. I had mine 2 days ago & a piece came out yesterday, which I figured was the medicine, but I felt like something was still there so I looked & see this DISGUSTING looking thing there.. Glad to see it's normal. not looking forward to the rest of it coming out. Yuck.

The tissue that is treated with the vinegar or other staining ends up being sluffed off, just like all skin when it is damnaged fresh tissue rebuilds underneath and in a way pushes off the top layer. I guess you could think of it like a reptile shedding a later of skin all at once, lol except it is your cervix

How long should this last. It's been 3 weeks tomorrow for me. So since I am still having coffee grounds discharged, I douched and the coffee grounds discharge was pretty severe along with the skin like discharge (which I haven't had since the first week after the procedure). No pain and no new blood. I was told during the procedure that I did bleed a lot and asked if I was on aspirin. I am not but I am on Naproxen and was told that could cause heavy bleeding.

I had my procedure done on a Wednesday and today is Saturday. I guess I can say after reading this all. What I'm experiencing is all normal. Today I had really bad cramps and felt something sliding out of me. I to,go the bathroom and wipe. And there it is all on the toilet paper. Brown really thin tissue about the size of my palm. Really freaked me out. And have been cramping bad since. Even notice a hard black like coffee ground substance about the size of a pea. Coming out..now i guess it all normal.

This was my second colposcopy so be glad if you've only had one. My first I had four bioposy(punches) dr told me it wouldn't hurt... Anyway I experienced bloody coffee like grounds really bad for the first three days and then this bloody sac came out very disgusting. So that's what I was expecting this time but I had this gross looking plastic bag like discharge which I think is worse. Glad to know its normal! I firmly believe a dr should tell you what happens after this procedure it's awful and very scary!

This was so helpful thank you so much for posting this! I'm experiencing the same thing and it's horrible. "Cement" is the best way to describe it for sure like it's cemented shut and it's incredible dry. I have not had any discharge as of yet but I feel like I want to put a tub of lubricant up there to stop the discomfort. About how long did this aweful feeling last?

I had my procedure Wednesday, I had the cement feeling for about a day and a half, then today discharged the gross tissue bag. Hopefully that helps.

I'm thankful that I found this post because I too have had this discharge. I was startled when it occurred. I had a colpo last week and my physician did not forewarn me about this unusual but yet common ( from what I see) occurrence. I even looked at the explaination for the procedure on web me and a few other trusted sites and this discharge that honestly looks like chicken skin (as someone else had mentioned) was never spoken upon. I also wanted to add one more thing that I experienced following this procedure. When I went to sleep that night (the day of the procedure) I woke up in the middle of the night and I, along with the sheets on my bed, we're so soaking wet that I literally felt I could ring them out. I've never experienced night sweats and I was perfectly healthy at the time. It's been a week since the procedure and I never got a cold or flu like symptoms. I believe that the night sweats were from the procedure. Hope this post helps ans all of your have reassured me. Thank you.

Exactly!! Me as well, but this didn't look anything like coffee grounds. Why doesn't any doctor mention this?!

I had a colposcopy & one biopsy January 2014 & just experienced a lot of spotting, nothing major. The results were inconclusive.
But then I had another colposcopy February 2016 & about 3 biopsies. The Gyno asked the assistant if my u-preg was negative like thrice & even asked me if I had ever been pregnant (which I hadn't). After the procedure she said little brown pieces might be in my bloody discharge cause they used this brown goop thing to stop the bleeding. & I was like cool no problem. I had some discharge the first day, then higher than spotting bleeding the next day. & then today, day 3, I was about the take a shower but saw something sticking out of there.... So I got toilet paper & pulled out something the size of my thumb... It was definitely skin/tissue! Not brown goob. I worried I miscarried or something because of my Gyno's pregnancy related questions. But then I read this site! & it was what was described here, even with coffee ground-like stuff inside. Thank you so much for calming my nerves. I was definitely about to cry.

Omg! Thank God for this site because I was truly freaking out about the discharge! My gynecologist told me about the cramping & coffee grind looking discharge but not about the skin/latex looking chunks that accompanied it. Absolutely disgusting looking on the tissue and/or wash cloth/towel! Had my Colposcopy Thursday & waiting for the nastiness to clear up...asap!

Okay ladies so from reading these posts I now know that the Monsel's solution is eventually going to come out but until then; here's my problem. I had an unusual amount of bleeding (like, a river) and they had to use ALOT of Monsel's solution. So much that they were even making comments about having to use so much. As a result, my vagina is literally stuck shut, which is fine except for the fact that when I move around it feels like it's tearing skin. The skin that has slowly come apart is red and very sore and the whole area is throbbing. It's only day one so should I go back to the doctor or just wait it out? also they should totally warn you about the fact that RUST will literally come out of your body.

I really appreciate how detailed everyone is so I can know what to expect. I thought something was wrong because I had a hard time trying to pee, but realized later there was a brown film covered in my vaginal area that NO ONE warned me about! So I freaked out more when it wasn't easily removed. I've douched, later finding out I shouldn't have. .but my nurse said to just let it come out on its own. Better communication would be nice!
