Hey, my name is Chelsea and like you guys, have been bleeding almost nonstop since I was a junior in high school. I am 21 now and newly engaged. Me and my fiance, for the most part, abstain from sexual activities because all it seems to do is make the bleeding worse. Back when this started, I was a junior in high school and had to rushed to the ER because I collapsed in the middle of a play rehearsal. According to the ER doc that checked me out, I was fine, minus the fact that I almost bled to death. Yeah, I love doctors. :-@ So anyway, my mother basically dragged me into a OBGYN, and they did every test imaginable, with nothing coming up as 'abnormal'. I 've had ultrasounds, pap smears, and biopsies. No success. My mom had an incident a few years ago to where she was hemmoraging and if they had waiting another two days, she would have died. She had a microdermablastion, which is where they scrape and burn the inside of her uterus and it seemed to stop the heavy bleeding. I inquired about this to my OB, and they looked at me like I had grown a second head. Apparently, it will only work if a womans tubes have been tied because it causes the woman to never be able to conceive again. I am getting married in the next year or so, and I want more than anything to be a mother. When they did the paps and biopsies, I was told that it was very unlikely to be able to get pregnant and if I did, childbirth would more than 79% likely to kill me. Again, I love doctors. I was 16 when they told me this.

I am unsure of how to proceed, and I was hoping that someone would have an answer. I read earlier that prenatal vitamins helped, so I am going to go pick some up from my pharmacy tonight on the way home. I'm crossing my fingers. Although it is nice to not be alone in this. I am appalled at the lack of knowledge about this and a treatment for it. Hang in there girls, we will overcome! Thanks for listening, let me know if anything happens and any treatments are discovered.

Hey I had the same problem for 9 months and saw 3 different doctors. All they said was everything was fine.

Nothing worked till I tried Barleans women's essential oil.

After 3 days the bleeding stopped completely. I tried to create a profile on the site to tell everyone on the thread but my iPhone wont let me. Try it and see if it works for you. It's only $28 on amazon or whole foods. Hope it works.

My daughter has the same problem.  She is 28 now and it started when she was 17.  We were able to get the bleeding stopped for the one year she was on birth control (Alese) but it took three cycles to completely stop.  Then when the prescription ran out, the bleeding started again.

She has had ultrasound, blood work -hormone levels, thyroid levels, everyday blood work, EVERYTHING is normal.  Her ob/gyn says she isn't ovulating (don't know how he knows that) and tried her on Clomid, had it up to the highest level with no success.

He gave her some med (can't remember the name) to cause her to have a heavy period, thinking it might shock her body back to normal.  She almost bled to death, had to have 3 units of blood, the loss of blood almost caused her to have a heart attack.

She's finally getting ready to go to a fertility specialist to see what she can find out.  My heart breaks for her, and you all, because she wants a baby so bad, but obviously is unalbe to conceive.  She is married, they've been together for 10 years.

I'm 19 years old and had my daughter almost 20 months ago. I havnt stopped bleeding since the day I had her. Finally getting insurance, I went to the gyn and they've put me on birth control for 3 months to see if that will stop the bleeding. 2 Months in and I'm still having heavy bleeding. They also said my thyroid was abnormal. So i went to an endocrenologist and they said my thyroid was normal. They gyn said if the bleeding didn't stop then I would need an ultra sound. Scary :/

well she has now started seeing a fertility specialist. birth control stopped the bleeding in two days (he's using it to thin out the uterine lining), she is on her second cycle now. they re did all the labs (it has been 3 years) and something is low (she goes back tomorrow, i told her to ask W"hat is low). this doc says 10-15 percent of women have this problem, and he doesn't see any reason that she won't get pregnant when he gets all this straighte4ned out. tomorrow she is have a test where they shoot dye inside her to make sure fallopian tubs aren' blocked

I have been on the birth control shot depo since march 16th... & I have been bleeding since march 28th... I went to the doctor to get my second dosage may 30th & the doctor subscribed me some iron pills & told me the bleeding would get better. I am now done w/the pills & the bleeding still continues. It's been like six months. I am so worried. & they told me that if I stop getting the shot &/or take another birth control method, the bleeding won't stop. I just want it to go away...

this seriously makes me nervous that so many women are experiencing what i am, and yet, have had no help. i go to forums all the time in search of answers....praying that the ONE woman who originally posted something would actually come back to the forum and update someone after dr. visits, etc. unfortunately for all of us - that never happens.

we sit on forums for hours, weeks, days and pray that someone came back to let us know. that needs to change. i hope that someone will eventually come back and say they're actually doing okay - and, that there IS a light at the end of the tunnel. i know and understand that so many of us are different. so what may happen for one woman may not happen for us. but, we can all hope, right?

i have been bleeding for 1 month now non-stop -- BUT, the only difference? i am not heavily bleeding. i am lightly spotting to where you cannot even see it on a pad after 12 hours of wearing a pad. to those bleeding constantly, going through pads and tampons left and right - you are all in my prayers.

Okay so I feel better knowing I am not alone. First off I started my cycle when I was 10yrs.old and it was never regular. I would have it for two to three months then off for the same. When I was on depo shots and the pill it stopped them completely. After having my son it became regular for the first time. But for the last few years it has gotten worst again. An the last year I just don"t stop bleeding. Everytime I have been to a doctor they say I am fine. Should I be asking for more tests to be done or looked into. I am really scared with everything and now that my 12yr. old was just diagnosed with Leukemia I worry if I don't find an answer soon I may put her or her sister in danger of having something that could have been prevented if I was able to tell them I had this same problem. Thank you and all and my prayers are with each one of you.

I feel for you. I went 2 years bleeding non stop, and the last year being so bad I couldn't leave the house.  I had every test imaginable and after the second hysteroscopy they thought it might be fibroids or polyps. Unfortunately the blood and my lining was so thick they couldn't be 100% certain. So I went in for a D&C and Dr. also decided to put in a mirena coil which releases hormones hoping that would stop or at least slow down the  bleeding.  They also did another biopsy while doing the D&C .  No polyps or fibriods were found, but biopsy did find I had complex hyperplasia with atypia. They did an MRI after that just to be sure there wasn't anything they missed.  Dr. had decided to go down the route of trying to reverse the cells before going for full hysterectomy.  Bleeding finally stopped after about 8 months for a few months and now's it's started again non stop. So now time to go back to Dr. because that's obviously not worked.  Just wish they'd gone for the full hysterectomy because I'm at the end of my rope now.

Well this is awful. I'm nineteen and have been taking the implant since December 2013. I had the normal routine of constant bleeding that my Gyno expected. Then at the beginning of May it became constant. I went to my Gyno again for the pap smear and to address the problem. She didn't see it as a problem and perscribed me some pills that are used for menopause. She believed that my lining was too thin. The pills didn't work. Not to mention she only gave me enough for 2 weeks with no refill. She was reluctant to give me the pills, but since I was going to return to college she figured might as well. And near the end of the two weeks I started to get a heavy period instead of the light one that I was used to. So now I have random periods that I can't predict. I need to look into a new Gyno, but the fact that this is happening to everyone else isn't encouraging. All I know is I still need to have some form of birth control (not pills) and to stop bleeding.

I have been bleeding for 4 months straight. I've never been on the pill or had any shots. Any clue what might be wrong with me?

This happened to me about 15 years ago, and I ended up having several problems: endometrioma ('chocolate cyst' on my left ovary); endometriosis (excessive proliferation of uterine-lining tissue) both in and outside my uterus; uterine fibroids... and when I went in for my hysterectomy, which I chose to do instead of undergoing other treatments that may or may not have worked, the pathologists discovered Stage 0 cervical carcinoma, also called carcinoma in situ. This is an early type of cancer, which has not spread or invaded other tissues. But any or all of these issues could have caused my 3-month bleeding spell. I don't know if it would have stopped on its own eventually, but of course the hysterectomy took care of it. Note, though, that I had NO plans or desire to have any more children, and I had so many isses all at once, so the decision to go through with the hysto was the best choice in my case.

My gynecologist/surgeon was VERY surprised at that finding, considering that I had had 2 normal Pap smears within the year. The first was during my annual well visit, before the bleeding started, and the second was done after the bleeding began. But apparently, the cancer was found in an area of the cervix where the Pap device doesn't usually reach. Ladies, be aware that a Pap smear is very important, and regular Paps can detect MANY cases of early cancer and other changes-- but even it has its limitations. There are a few 'dead zones' that can be missed even though you are diligent about keeping up with these tests.

My hysterectomy was total, including removal of the cervix and BOTH ovaries. I also lost a small portion of my intestine and a sliver of my left kidney (less than 1%) because the endometriosis had spilled out of the uterus and into my abdomen, causing adhesions. I still have displaced endo, as there is no way to clear it all once it's spread as far as it has in my body.

For those who are still having trouble, talk to your doctor about the possibility of endometriosis. Endo is NOT always found on ultrasound or by manual palpation unless there is a cyst like I had on my ovary. Sometimes, the only way to tell is through a laparoscopy, a type of 'scope' surgery where a small camera is inserted into the abdomen, and tissue samples are taken for biopsy.

If your doctor isn't willing to listen to you, or 'pooh-poohs' you off, FIND ANOTHER DOCTOR. It sometimes takes real work to confirm a diagnosis of endometriosis. Endo is not something that REQUIRES a hysterectomy. It can often be managed (not cured) with certain medicines, including hormones and non-hormonal treatment. Endo may not be an absolute bar to getting pregnant, but certain medications should be used with caution if you are trying to conceive.

That's my story, and I hope that it helps many others who are going through this bleeding.
