Hi! I’m 25 and I have diabetes. I’m on excellent treatment and I fell ok. Also I’m on diet, of course. I’ve just heard that using cornstarch can help people with diabetes. Does anybody use it or maybe just know is good to consume cornstarch if you suffer from diabetes? Thanks!

Yes, cornstarch is very good for you. I read some researches about it. One of them showed that oral cornstarch supplementation reduces the risk for nocturnal hypoglycemia in young children with type 1 diabetes. The other one says that snack bar with uncooked cornstarch can diminish night time and morning hypoglycemia without causing hyperglycemia.

Hello there pavla,

First of all I am very glad to hear that you are on a great treatment which is helping you and it is great that you are feeling so good and you have been diagnosed with diabetes. Also I believe that ivan has provided you with sufficient information and that you don’t need repeating of his words.

I would just like to add that my grandmother is always trying to keep up with the new research regarding the diabetes (she is diabetic as well) and I remember that she was mentioning cornstarch in a good way. Unfortunately I don’t remember the details but I would sway that you could consult your doctor about this for a professional opinion.

Hi, my name is John. I am 68 years old. I live in Japan as I am an English Teacher and I am a diabetic. This message is mainly for that bright 25 years old person named Pavia on this site but I would be very happy to share my comments with anybody else who is a diabetic and would also be happy to share their comments or suggestions about how they are managing their diabetes. We all know how serious and dangerous it can be when we do not take care of our diabetes condition. I recently lost a great friend of mine a few months ago due to her bad diabetes control, overweight and poor diet and lifestyle.
I was happy to find this page as I was at the time looking and searching on the web to see if Cornstarch would be safe to use on a diabetic person. I do hope to hear from Pavia or anybody else suffering from diabetes as I would be very happy to share with everyone how for some strange reason my Haemoglobin HbA1c suddenly dropped from 7.8 to 6.5 due to a slight change of my lifestyle and including some natural home ingredients added to my diet. By the way this is by no means one of those gimmick videos that we usually find on the web lasting almost 30 minutes only to discover that you need to order their books, dvd or supplements which I know for a fact that they are all a waste of money and good for nothing. Thank you all for taking the time to read my message and I look forward to hear from you.

Hi John, I am a 73 year old diabetic with type 2 diabetes for over 20 years. When I was first diagnosed I was morbidly obese (5 ft 8" & 272 lbs). My endocrinologist told me that I would die soon if I didn't get my sh*t in order quickly. I immediately went on a strict diet, and over a 3 year period I lost 100 lbs! My HgbA1c when from 10.4 to \7.2. I have remained on dietary control snd over the years I have gone from using insulin and Victoza to metformin to NOTHING!

I have been having problems with hypoglycemia particularly at night. I wear a CGM (continuous glucose monitor) and it often awakened me from my sleep. I would wake up with an alarm at 76 and I would keep a breakfast bar near my bed to eat. My endocrinologist told me to take 5 grams (1 teaspoon) of cornstarch mixed into an 8 ounce glass of cold water before bed. He said that studies show that babies with type 1 DM are much more stable when on cornstarch supplementation in their diets. It has worked wonders for me.

He told me to start at one teaspoon and if it didn't work well enough to try taking 2 teaspoons but NOT to go past 2 without consulting him again. I hope that this helps you. Talk to your MD and see what he or she says about it. Good luck.
