I had a light period with three days of bleeding (not as much as usual) and little amounts of spotting for 8 days now (Mar 12- now). I do not have any cramping at all. I am not on birth control and I am usually right on time with my periods and they last 5-6 days with three heavier days and usually 2-3 light days. I took an EPT pregnancy test on Monday (day 5 of spotting) to rule out that I was pregnant. I am wondering if I have a cyst or fibroids or polyps?? I am 27 yrs old and have a 14 mo old little girl. I don't want to get on the pill because my hubby and I may want to try again for another baby in a few months. I have an appt with my OB/GYN on Friday but I am extremely nervous. Does anyone have any ideas what it could be? Thanks for your help.

The only way to find out about whether you have cysts/fibroids/polyps is to get examined. Yes, all of these benign growths could cause irregular bleedings, bleeding between periods or after sex. All of these growths can be removed but some of them may reoccur like fibroids and if you had polyps once you are more like to get new ones ( not recurrent).

Also, cervical inflammations could lead to the similar symptoms, so seeing a gynecologist and getting an exam is the only way to know for sure.

It could also be none of these things and something transient that you can’t even establish what. These things happen and they are ok. We should start worrying when this becomes chronic (three cycles in a row) or if the spotting doesn’t stop.
