This is way after the fact but just thought I would post in case someone sees this that needs to know. I had a catscan on my abdomen for severe abdominal pain and found out from the catscan I was pregnant with my now alive healthy and extremely smart 11 year old daughter. I was terrified too and consulted with a high risk ob doctor who told me not to worry and I didnt worry anymore after that and I am glad I didnt because she is perfectly healthy.

As a doctor for 30 years, I recommend you take 2,000 mcg's of Selenium daily to treat the possible cancer.
I don't have cancer, but I have been taking 3,000 mcg's of Selenium daily for 25 years
to prevent cancer.
This is the known safe level.
Something else I have done for 25 years to prevent cancer is....
Oh well, see my Youtube site on cancer

I had a CT scan done on my abdomen when I was about 1 week pregnant.  I was totally freaked and read all the posts I could find.   Being pro-life, there was never a question about whether I would abort the pregnancy - even facing a possibility of deformities.  Actually, the fear that my child might be deformed or disabled because of something I had done only solidified my decision.  I felt it would be wrong to punish my child for a problem I caused.  I was scared that I hurt my child.  At 7 weeks I started bleeding and feared I was having a miscarriage.  An ultrasound in the Emergency Room revealed that the baby was doing fine but they couldn't tell what was causing the bleeding.  I bled for over 2 weeks.  A sonogram at 20 weeks revealed that the baby was developing at a normal pace.  I never had a 3-D Ultrasound or Amniocentesis so we knew there was only so much you could see in the way of deformities or other potential problems.  Our daughter was born on her due date.  She'll be 2 weeks old tomorrow.  She's perfectly healthy.  Her brother and sisters adore her and I can't imagine our family without her.<3

can someone please help me? my daughter did not know she was pregnant - had a fall in the toilet and had to have a brain CT scan done. Now she is very worried that her baby will be affected. She must have been about 2-3 weeks into the pregnancy when the CT was done. Please somebody, tell us what to do.

i will say that at the time of my ct scan I didn't know I was pregnant. the blood test said I was not. two weeks later I am in the hospital due to a fainting spell and guess what I was 6 and a half weeks pregnant. and then a week later I lost the baby. they would not tell me straight out that the ct scan caused it they were trying to go around a lawsuit. we have a hard time getting pregnant and took us 2 and half years to get pregnant so I was very upset when it happened. I say don't do ct scan if I had known I would not have. it makes me feel that it was my fault.

Hi,
I had a CT scan in the emergency room because they thought I might have a blood clot in my lungs (I didn't). They gave me a pregnancy test in the hospital which came back negative, but I found out a few days later that I was almost 4 weeks pregnant. I just had a miscarriage at almost 7 weeks. I don't know if the two are definitely related but I have heard that CT scans can cause a miscarriage. At the end of the day you need to have the scan if your life may be at risk, but understand that there are possible risks to your pregnancy if you do.
