Hi, I heard of CT Scan for hundred times but didn’t know what it is before my husband had a stroke two years ago. A CT Scan is used to evaluate the severity of stroke an which parts of brain has it exactly effected. It shows areas of abnormalities in the brain, indicating the cause of stroke whether it is insufficient blood supply (ischemic stroke) or a ruptured blood vessel (hemorrhage).
A CT scan is based on x-rays picturing of skull and brain. With addition of computers and rotating x-ray machines to create images of slices, or cross-sections, of the brain doctor can have a whole picture of damage in the brain.
