my son had a sist on his petuitary gland.it was taken off, and the gland was not taken ,but quit working.he is on all sorts of medicines for the rest of his life.he is only 27years old and newly married.is there any treatment to get the gland to function again or at least partially working?/thank you

Without knowing your sons complete medical history relative to his pituitary problem, it sounds like he has suffered complete pituitary failure. This condition, called panhypopituitarism, represents the loss of all hormones released by the anterior pituitary gland. There is no medical procedure or treatment known that will bring partial or complete return of pituitary function. Sometimes, though very rarely, the pituitary will regain function own it’s own. However I must stress that this is very rare.

As long as your son continued to take his hormone replacement medications, he should live a relatively health, normal life.
