Hello,
I read that metamucil is really dangerous and that it can cause death. Is that true?
Thanx for replies!

Hey,
That's really funny. Metamucil does not cause death :-) Metamucil is in pudding, cereals,… The only dangers of metamucil is the amount of sugar.

NOT TRUE!! My husband was using Metamucil and he started having chest pains and trouble breathing. He has had all types of test run and nothing has shown up. He stopped using the Metamucil during this time and got better not realizing that that was the culprit. He went back to using it and his symptoms returned. Needless to say that was the problem and the amount of sugar has nothing to do with it.

I am suspect of simular symptoms possibly from Metamucil. How long after she stopped taking it did the chest pains go away? Any other symptoms? Thanks

I don't think it's the Metamucil alone. I took a little too much Metamucil with my heart medication. Everything was fine for about 12 hours, then wham, I think all of the heart medication was released into my system at once. I think I nearly died, was out of it for about 4 hours. Since then, I separate my regular medication from Metamucil by several hours and have had no ill effects. Metamucil firms up after mixing, and can interfere with the delayed release of other medication into your system if taken at the same time. It will hold it for up to 12 hours, and then release the medication all at once into your bloodstream. Depending on the medication taken with it, this could be very serious. Be careful. I had not idea of this issue until it almost killed me.
