Marijuana is probably the only thing that truly helps me. This is truly debilitating. I am losing everything I love because of this. I am a massage therapist that can no longer give a massage without my arms hurting extremely. I can't play guitar without my arm swelling up.

The real cure to DPU is to avoid food chemicals. Look at all ingredients in your food, and do not eat out. Avoid anything on the ingredients list that you don't recognize as food. All phosphates, nitrates, artificial colors/ flavors, natural flavors (extracted with emulsifiers), emulsifiers, magnesium sterate, and all chemical names in your food. Don't drink anything but spring water, 100% juice, milk, coffee or tea. All convenience store beverages are full of chemicals. No flavored coffee, no half and half as it has the emulsifier sodium phosphate (organic horizon brand doesnt have emulsifiers) If you don't have Whole Foods market near you, you cant eat anything out of packages. Chemical free diet is the secret cure to DPU and most autoimmune disease. Finding chemical free bread sources is very difficult and the reason why going gluten free seems to work, breads have some of the highest number of chemicals. Avoid chemcals and your DPU will be gone in no more than 4 days. These chemcals have a 72 hour circulation period in your body.
Cured myself and others of DPU and other autoimmune disease by cutting out chemicals.
The cause and cure is so simple and in plan site, but very few people can see it.
Autoimmune disease isnt a bad thing. Nothing is wrong with your immune system. It is simply recognizing something not food, harmful and building an immune response to these chemical. The reality is the your body is doing everything right. Western med would like to give you more chemicals in the form of drugs to impair your immune system so much that it stops reacting to these harmful chemicals and also stops reacting and fighting things like cancer cells.

Try Dapsone. It is a prescription. After suffering over 20 years with DPU, a new Dr. prescribed Dapsone and that is the drug that finally worked for me. You will need blood test monitoring to be sure it is not affecting your liver.

This is DBR, with an update to my story. I went to the endocrinologist, and all of my thyroid levels were fine. So I continued to suffer from DPU. I took 2 Zantac a day. Then about 6 months ago, the weather cooled, some stress in my life was removed, and my DPU lessened significantly. I cut to one Zantac a day, and tried to wear cooler, looser clothing. I also exercise at least twice a week, and tried to stop thinking about hives. Now I only get an outbreak if I drink alcohol, get stressed, or drink too much caffeine! I try to avoid high histamine foods, but admit I don't always succeed. Keep trying to find out what works!

I have severe Delayed Pressure Urticaria (DPU) and Angioedema since 5 years, although it has just been diagnosed since approximately 1 year.
I went to several doctors, took numerous medicines, followed different diets, went to homeopaths, accupuncturists, ... you name it and I have tried it. Now I am taking daily 100 grams of Dapsone and I am nearly totally without urticaria and angioedema since the last 6 months, while before it occurred every day!

Hello,

I am 30 year old guy and I have suffered from DPU for more than 6 years now. Sometimes i get really frustrated and depressed becuase of it. The worst is the swollen feet or toes!! The only way is to avoid pressure and get medical shoes.

It gets better during winter and is worse in the spring..

when I eat healthy and exercise regularly , it disappears for some time but the moment I stop exercising, it is back again..

I had h pylori and took anti biotics but nothing changed :)

I am suspecting that it could be vitamin D deficiency because this started happening when I moved to Canada 10 years ago.. so I am taking vitamin D, but let's see what happens!! Please let me know if any of you has tried this before..

Thanks

Adam

I am 38 years old in January 2012 I was diagnosed with DPU after suffering with symptoms for more than six months. I have tried steroids cutting alcohol and Zyrtec with no relief of my DPU symptoms. In March 2014 a friend introduced me to Thrive looking to gain more energy, mental clarity and help with appetite control I gave it a try little did I know it was going to change my life. After a couple weeks on thrive I noticed my DPU symptoms were gone. I continued for six months on thrive symptom free. After getting a stomach bug I went off thrive for a couple weeks and my DPU symptoms returned immediately I went back on thrive and have continued to be symptom free since. Thrive is 100% natural and gluten-free. I take a capsule in the morning followed by a shake and then apply my patch and I'm done!! Since then I have jumped headfirst into promoting thrive hoping to better improve other suffers. I hope that this can help others as much as it has helped me!!

58 yr old male.  I've had Delayed Pressure Urticaria for 3 years.  Self diagnosed.  Been taking 10mg montelukast daily for 2 years with 99% reduction in symptoms.  Surf everyday without symptoms.

I've had Delayed Pressure Urticaria as well as the more generalized Chronic Idiopathic Urticaria for about 3 years. I tried every combination of anti-histamines and other medications without success. I recently began treatment with Xolair about 3 weeks ago. I have not had a hive since the date of the shot. Xolair was recently approved for use with CIU that is not otherwise controllable with conventional antihistamines. So far the Xolair seems to be working. I've not really put it to the test by exercise or riding my bike. But ordinarily I would have hives just from sitting or walking. I've not had any itchy spots yet. Once my cold clears I will begin riding my bike. That is the ultimate test. I will update this as I progress in the treatment.

Glad to hear it! I'm a trainer & this is KILLING ME! It's absolutely debilitating! More so because of the neck pain that I have been experiencing...the wheals I get are plate sized and wrap around my body like a boah! It just started 10 months ago on and off and now it's chronic! every single day! I'm beyond upset about it. Now I get them on my face, too! I will try working through it. I'm a tough cookie. But I think I met my match or at least a formidable adversary. The flu like symptoms, joint discomfort & pain are unbearable at times. My experience with Doctors is very soured. Most of them are a bunch of FKN idiots! The general public is exceedingly more knowledgable- thanks to google. I diagnosed myself & possible causations. My Dr. disagreed and of course he's WRONG. I implore people to read & maintain a positive outlook. I love a good challenge - not what I had in mind; but nonetheless a "challenge" all the same. Thank you very much for sharing your experience. This is what we need. Communication. I tried allegra & although, it doesn't completely diminish urticaria, it does help. I'm very reluctant to take prednisone. I read somewhere that it could be a parasite- one guy was cured. He went to a disease specialist. I also suspect hashimotos disease. It could be an array of things. So many things are suspect & have not been ruled out. Anyway, thanks again. Keep me posted. I will do the same and hopefully we can help others & each other with at least SUPPORT!

I've had the same results as you - going grain-free for three weeks for the first time a month ago and had NO hives! I recently added a little back into my diet and had a hive last night, but it wasn't near as big and didn't last near as long. I think grain-free is my answer! So glad you have found that it works for you, too!

I see your message was a year ago. Hoping you are still checking .....I have this derma issue, almost always late evening, almost always connected to heat in an area of tighter clothing. ALLEGRO stops it within 45 mins to an hour . Dermatologist diagnosed it immediately, said his wife has it and this works. Take one 24 hr. Allegra when this shows up...or a 12 hr. one. It works ! He suggested I take it daily for a month. I only take it when the itch/hives begins.
