I am diabetic and have a nagging suspicion that I also have Hashimoto's thyroiditis - ever since I read something on wikipedia about this condition and some of the symptoms really struck a chord with me, I have been thinking about this. Are there any known connections between Hashimoto's thyroiditis and Diabetes?

I know this is an old question, but I just came across it today. I have both Type 2 Diabetes and Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Up until a couple of years ago, I always was dx with non-Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Then something changed, the dx changed and I developed diabetes at about the same time. I haven't been told of any connection, but I think there might be something autoimmune about them.
That's just my two cents of course, but at least you know there is someone else out there with both as well as other autoimmune disorders.
