Hi, to have a cystic fibrosis diagnosed a doctor needs to obtain a detailed medical and family history and perform a thorough physical examination. Some tests like blood test can help doctor to ensure an accurate diagnosis. The sweat test is the most useful test for diagnosing cystic fibrosis (CF). The amount of salt in your sweat is being measured. For this test, doctors rub a small amount of a chemical called pilocarpine on arm or leg, attach an electrode and a mild electric current produces sweat. It makes you have sensation of tingling or a feeling of warmth. After 30 to 40 minutes, they collect the sweat on the pad or paper to have it analyzed.
