Hi, I'm new to the board. I am diabetic since 1999.I could have died from a diabetic coma a month earlier in that same year. I don't have health insurance and I am not on insulin. I am very concerned. I need to know what are the chances having diabetic coma again.

Oh, I am sorry to hear this, but I think that you need medical attention. If you have diabetes, prolonged blood sugar extremes can cause you to lose consciousness-that is diabetic coma. Both very high blood sugar and very low blood sugar can lead to a diabetic coma. If you left untreated, a diabetic coma is a life-threatening condition. Although the risk of a diabetic coma is small, prevention is in your hands. Try eating healthy diet, but I still think that someone has to monitor your blood sugar.
