I had vulva surgery a month ago and the doctor used dissolvable stiches, but they have not come out yet. Is this normal? My doctor says it is healed but stitches are still there!! My doctor volunteered to take them out, but is that safe?

Please help me.

Has your wound healed yet? This is how dissolvable stitches work:
Although they are made from natural materials like collagen or hair or silk ( ok, they can be made synthetically as well), the body sees them as foreign bodies and will try to destroy them.
By the time the body dissolves the stiches your wound should have already healed.

It may happen that some stitches are not dissolved all the way, especially those that are left on the outside of the body. That way, your own body can’t dissolve them and they stay like that.

If your wound has healed, and your doctor is willing and thinks it’s ok, he may very well take them out.
