Hi, folks. My classmate has been diagnosed with acute leukemia. I know that this is the type of disease with very serious prognosis. I would like to find out something more. I am especially interested if corticosteroids can really help in this case. I hope someone will answer this post. Bye!

Hi to you too. Leukemia is considered to be a form of cancer. It is the cancer of white blood cells. They are the ones with uncontrolled growth. It can be acute or chronic. Since it is cancer, cytotoxic drugs are necessary in the treatment. Corticosteroids alone are not enough. However, they can be combined with other chemotherapeutical medications. Chlorambucil, methotrexate, cyclophsphamide are the ones that are most used here. I hope this helps. Bye!
