I have done this for hours every day for a few months ago, mostly while watching tv or reading once I get home from work. I REALLY like it. I find it relaxing and it's helped me not consume junk food or binge eat. I get a rush of dopamine from it, same as how I used to when I occasionally binged. I am satisfied with just chewing up junk food and spitting it out now.
I am hoping it doesn't lead to a ruined metabolism or weight gain because I really enjoy it and tbh I don't know if I can stop at this point--neither do I want to.

I have done this for 10 Years now. Other than the first year when I lost weight using this method, it has haunted me for the last 9. Almost certainly this has caused me to gain weight every time I chew and spit, but not knowing exactly what the biological chain reaction is makes me keep going back to this habit because I keep holding out hope that this can be an easy way out to lose/maintain weight while still having my cake and eating it too, literally. Now I view this behaviour the same as I would overeating, it’s an emotional eating disorder, it temporarily numbs and releases stress and tension. I wish I can stop for good, but I still haven’t found an alternative to that numbing and releasing that is as effective as and not more damaging than chewing and spitting or binging.

These answers are most really pathetic. As most in life is about how insanely yougo about doing it. If you do it occasionally, even every night, with normal quantities of food and wash your teeth like a normal person would!!!!! Why are these nutz saying you are going to get ulcers, rot your teeth and get an ulcer!!!! Damn it , have you heard abour bubble gums, you have to insanely chew it to get these crazy side effects people are describing here!
My point is simple anyone can CS safely, just be sane about it!

Hi, I have C&S for over 12 years now. It started innocently after I’d lost about 120lbs. I was so happy I had lost weight and was trying so hard to keep it off. I never knew it was a disorder or had heard about it. I’ll never forget the day I ate food and spit it into the drain at my house. It was like a light went off in my head, “This is how I can keep from gaining all the weight back that I worked so hard to lose”. Well I slowly began to gain weight back. Then a few years later I worked hard and lost 30lbs and was feeling good but still C&S. I firmly believe the C&S is causing me to gain as well as limit me from losing weight. I think it does mess with my insulin levels, I am swallowing more than I think and the money wasted is terrible. It also has caused me stomach issues and bloating. After reading this post I am going to stop cold turkey tonight and see if I can make it two weeks then weigh myself. I believe this has caused me to gain weight because I walk an hour each day, I also take adderall for ADD and I hardly eat except for when I get a lot of food chew it and spit it out. This has formed a bad relationship with me and food.

I chew and spit my healthy food. I'm not consuming junk foods at all. I and hoping on losing weight with the least amount of calories absorbed period! Will I still increase on the scale. I brush and floss immediately after
What are my chances. I'm anorexic by the way.

Hi there

I was recovering from an eating disorder where I’d starve myself all week and binge at weekends and then discovered chewing and spitting about 6 years ago.
It’s really disgusting when you think about it isn’t it. Chewed up food in some kitchen paper but I had made into a ritual for myself in a way.

At first I thought “this is awesome all the taste with no calories” but 6 years on that is not true. If you chew and spit say things with a chocolate coating, that chocolate is going to melt in your mouth and then be in your system. Sugars in certain foods like granola and bread dissolve and stay in your saliva. Simple.

I’m 5’7’ when I stared spitting and chewing I was 60kg, I’ve gained weight since then. I don’t over eat and I have a varied workout 5 days a week. So obviously this is where I’m going wrong.

I’m only now trying to cut it out entirely and it’s hard but I really would urge you all to try. I’ve been making lots of homemade healthy snacks like protein balls and protein frozen yoghurt bark that I can have at hand - they taste good and they’re not necessarily going to take you off track if you’re eating a balanced diet. Also I’m allowing myself to have that chocolate and cake and not stress. That was the biggest hurdle to overcome but it’s working and my excess weight is coming off.

Hope this helps someone x

Regardless, chewing a bunch of sugar, unfortunately, can mess with your insulin levels..hence, diabetes. Not to mention eroded teeth. Trust me, I know.
