It's not purely psychological. Just because you are not affected by it does not mean it is purely psychological. I have a family that is well off and don't suffer from stress of any kind, but I do notice weight loss and fatigue when I masturbate two or three times a week. I also understand that it is hopeless trying to get people who are not affected by this to believe me or others who say that this is a real problem. I understand that it would be the same if someone told me they have some disease that I do not have, I would probably tell them to go see a doctor or psychologist.

As for the people that are affected by masturbation, I have found that taking multivitamins that day helps recover some energy. Also if you lift heavy weights the next day(when you get some energy back), it also helps to make you feel more energetic. If working out doesn't work, try running a mile or two.

I landed on this thread through a random phrase typed into google and as someone who has a degree in pharmacology I have to say that yes this belief that you will become weak is purely psychosomatic, its a mental not physical problem. most people masturbate a lot. the idea that masturbation drains a mans energy/power/essence is a myth with origins in anti-masturbation and misogynistic beliefs, there is not one shred of peer reviewed scientific evidence to show otherwise. this pseudoscientific talk about it draining your adrenals is a myth too. if you are not malnourished and also if you take a daily multivitamin/mineral your body will be able to replenish hormones and neurotransmitters it uses and requires more of. if you really have an adrenal problem then you have some underlying issue it has nothing to do with masturbation and you need to seek real medical attention.

Some people are stronger than others. I've noticed that I feel depressed and constantly looking for satisfaction when I wack off too much. Take a few days off, and my energy levels and spirit come back. With all the replies, it's probably worth trying to lay off beating off and see what it does for you. My weight is 50 Kg. I am 35 yrs old.

I Mbate on an average 3 times a day. I started when I was 17 Yrs.

I havent gained weight and is not that I am weak but simply do not put on weight inspite of eating nutritous food.

I have checked all my blood parameters and they are all in normal limits.


May be that exessive habit has made me look/feel frail.

Just a thought open for comments.

I agree with John...i am 40 now and for the past 10 years i have practicising the "Taoist" way where you can invigorate and restore your energy by having normal sex but not ejaculating. Try it, it can keep your youth and build a resistance against diseases. I am now 40 and still engaging in hypersports. By the way, recently i am trying a new way of consuming back my own semen after ejaculation.

I'm not sure it will have any physical benefits. Any idea on this, John?

The only thing I'm not sure about...What you are saying is that masturbation will make you really skinny and age faster? First of all, it doesn't make you skinny or unattractive for that matter, maybe chronic masturbators suffer from a feeling of impotence because of their lack of a sexual partner? As for the age thing, I believe that most people that cling to this belief are looking for a scapegoat so they wont blame their entire lifestyle. Its easy to blame one vice than an entire way of living.

I agree with this guy...!.... I'm a victim too. It is very rare though as no one I know has this except me. I lose weight Immediately especially after i wake up from sleeping if i go to sleep after the act. I was an athlete in school and if i masturbated that day it would severely affect my performance. Right now i have finished school and my bachelors studies and still this problem is there. I try not to masturbate but sometimes i give in to the temptation like once a week and this makes me loose weight(only after i masturbate and not with anything else i do in my lifestyle). If i masturbate the day I go to the gym it makes me very week and my muscles always get damaged due to it(only after masturbation). The weight loss is most noticible from the face, arms and the rib area. My cheeks go in really fast and needs many days to fill back in. I have a very fast metabolism and thought maybe that had something to do with it as maybe i require waay more energy in the action and to replenish my sperm. Maybe hormonal as well. I went to see many doctors about this and they have no idea whats wrong with me, and they suggest a stronger diet for me but already I'm a heavy eater. I gain weight and muscle fast in the gym but need only to masterbate once to set me back a loong way. If anyone has any remedies I'd like to hear it as I'm in dire need of help...!...It is adversely affecting my growth. My friends have also noticed my immediate weight loss and tell me i'm inhuman.... :S

You masturbated and then lost weight?  The two HAVE to be related.  You just used the internet and you're alive!  Don't stop using the internet or you'll cease to be living!  Just because two things happened, doesn't mean there's any correlation.  You should have moved past ridiculous judgements like that by age 5.  Masturbation does cause a decrease in energy and motivation in the immediate future following it, but it does not cause weight loss or any illness.  In fact it is more known for increasing health than anything else.  In order for you to lose weight from masturbation, you'd have to have done it so much that you burned more calories in the act than you consumed that day.  This is also known in medical terms as "exercise".

If you truely want a method to "get rid of this habit", you might try entering into a relationship with another person... perhaps a girlfriend.

you are right.one more thing what men should know is,the sayin''masterbation is healthy'' is wrong..medical report is not trustworthy as people hesitate to mention the problms due to masterbation.we have experimented,among a gym club guys and found that there was no physical development in the guys who masterbate.the effect is that they cannot heavylift and now it's obvious among us that masterbating leads to thin body,at least gymers(sportsmen)should aviod it for better result.
