My son is 7 years old and we take him often to see his grandparents. Since there is a forest nearby, he likes to play there and that is always a headache. Last time he returned with three bee stings! Although it was nothing serious, I could see that he has been crying. What is the best treatment? Does urine really help to stop pain in bee stings?

Well, I guess you already know that the first thing in this situation would be removing a barbed stinger. And people say that it must be done as fast as you can, whatever method you use. As delay gets longer, more venom gets into the system. After that, something cold can be put on the location of the sting, to reduce pain and swelling. As for urine, supposedly it neutralizes the alkaline substances with its acidity.

I can personally attest that urinating on bee stings WILL stop the pain. When I was a small child (probably around 4) I tried to catch bees in my hand. Usually too fast for me, but I fondly remember one time I was successful! Caught the bee, and felt so proud (at least for about a second), then BAM! INTENSE PAIN! I started crying. I ran to my mom. I don't remember if she took out the stinger (she probably did), and I remember my mother telling me to urinate on my hand. I said to myself "are you sure???" I urinated on my hand. INSTANT RELIEF. I was completely dumbfounded. It actually worked. Pain one second...relief the next.

Yes, you are 100% correct!. I have needed to use urine for multiple bee and jelly-fish stings for over 20+ years. This past weekend my wife was walking on the grass without shoes and got stung on the inner part of her big toe. She was in severe pain and I told her to urinate on it and she said she couldn't. I said that I would, and she reluctantly agreed because the pain was getting worse. It worked immediately; maybe 5 -7 seconds after "contact". My wife was extremely relieved (and embarrassed), but hey, it sure beats riding out the pain!

I can categorically confirm that wee'ing on ones finger does absolutely negate the pain almost instantaneously.

Yes, urine works immediately for bee stings and several species of wasps and hornets. It's absolutely amazing!! It works so well that I don't even worry about being stung, which happpens quite often
