Hi all,

Over the last few days I have been having a dull ache in my left testical, there appears to be of what I can only describe as a lumpy string like issue at the back of my testical, at the top/back of my testical appears to be a small lump pee size, if I squeeze that its quite tender, can anyone tell me if that sounds like the epididymis? If so should this be aching?

The lump on my left testical appears to be a little bigger than the one on my right, its in the same position though.

Can anyone advise on this matter please?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Hey - yeah, I have EXACTLY the same problem. Reading this actually put my mind at ease.

I think it's Epididymitis - a common case in men. I'm 17 - so I'm not sexually active yet - surely this should rule out it being a bacterial infection?

I think what I have is Chronic Epididymitis - because the first time I got it (in my left testicle) it took about a week or two for the pain to go away by itself. Then I just forgot about it - and one day (like a month or two later) I decided to self examine myself - and accidently squeezed my epididymis (in the left testicle again) a little too much. I think that my left epididymis must be a little weaker than my right - because it's usually tender if I squeeze and prod it too much; in which it take like a week or so to go away again. It went away again after a week - and didn't trouble me again for a good 3-4 months. Them, when I was in bed (after masturbating :-D) I felt my epididymis. It was/is bigger than my right one - and so I panicked - consantly touching it trying to make it seem smaller in an hopeless effort to put my mind at ease. Yes, I'm a hypochondriac. Now it's been something like four days since I aggrivated it again - and the pain has pretty much disappeared.

I've noticed that the pain usually subsides when I'm laying down - and in the morning it is virtually unexistant. As the day progresses towards an end, though - it becomes more noticeable. I wouldn't describe it as painful - just an annoying mild ache.

Would this be defined as Chronic Epididymitis? I haven't visited a Doctor about it - why? Truth be told, it's an embarrassing subject and scary - also, part of me says it would just be a waste of time. I don't want to have to be prescribed antibiotics because I know it will just go away by itself - besides, from what I have heard, antibiotics are usually pretty rubbish in this case.

A lesson to learn would be not to touch the sensitive area again - let it heal itself I always say. Give it some hot/cold water (whatever you prefer). That's one of the best remedies for inflammation. I would know - I suffered from Iritis (inflammation of the iris in the eye). When all of man's drugs and potions had failed - from eye drops to oral pills to steroid injections - my inflamed eye succumb to a wooden spoon wrapped with a towel dipped in hot water. Mother nature's remedies always prevail - that's my perspective.
