I have done some research about this issue after I recently started to experience these electrical-like shocks in my brain. I encourage all of you who are having this issue to first take a look at your medications. Are you/were you on an antidepressant?
I found something called SSRI discontinuation syndrome, I think you should all look into it and see if it is a possibility for what is going on. I recently stopped my zoloft, cold turkey about 2 weeks ago. I have been feeling these dizzying brain zaps for about a week now... I really feel like this is a logical explaination for what I am experiencing.

I hope this information has helped some of you.

I feel the same thing but mine go from the bottum of my feet to my head. When i walk like a buzzing or electricting but more buzzing? It usually ladt no more than a day and for sum reason i equate to allergies. Glad im not only, didnt really know how to explain it :( Theres no medicine that works for it, not even ice paks. I just stay as still as possible and than i feel pressure thru out my body for a sec or two with intence buzzing. I have alot of disabilities and take quite a few meds. But this has been happening for about a year. I pray i knew what it was :(!!! Oh well...

I've had electric shocks shooting from one side of my brain to the other on occasion for years, however, when I came off Effexor I had to endure days of them relentlessly. They would come in clusters of up to ten. I counted over 220 in twenty minutes. Ive been off Effexor since Oct. 2012, but I still get them now and then.Usually when turning my head or standing up. Drinking alcohol makes them worse. It definitely seems like a brain chemistry thing, however I have had alot of head injuries.

I don't know when the electric like activity started. I do have narcolepsy and neuro sarcoidosis. Maybe central nervous system/peripheral nerve system cause shocks? Doesn't hurt -blinking and turning head/neck.Lasts for several days and stops. The narcolepsy hallucinations came with extremely painful electricity going to fingertips and toes. The last time a few years ago it came from brain to heart to fingertips to toes so painful I woke up screaming and it never happened again. Now just painless shocks all day for a few days.

I used to notice it when I didn't take my antidepressants. but I've been on the same dose for six months now and am getting it. I would like to find out what is causing it. because I can barely function when I'm like this. I was surprised to c so many other people feel these symptoms. thanks for all Ur input

In short, I take adderal for severe narcolepsy. I've taken it for many years. About once a month I get painful thrush. Im taking probiotics regularly and nothing is changing. I deal with it because I rather live life awake as much as possible than live in my narcoleptic nightmares. I've been through tons of "try this, try that" w many different drs. Im allergic to xyrem and no other stimulant works as well as Adderal does flr me. Help!

Nutrients that can help manage narcolepsy include calcium and magnesium, choline, chromium picolinate, coenzyme Q10, omega-3 fatty acids, B vitamins, vitamin C complex (including bioflavonoids) and vitamins D and E. Some research suggests that the supplement 5-HTP may help those with narcolepsy by reducing the duration of cataplexy and improving nighttime sleep.

In addition, food intolerances may be linked to narcolepsy. Ask your physician (or a nutritionist) about an elimination diet. Wheat, dairy products, corn and chocolate are the foods most commonly implicated.

Thrush is a form of candidia which feeds off sugars, refined grains and alcohol. Avoid these.  Avoid HFCS, sugar, other sugars as much as possible they will only feed the thrush.  And candidia can reside in your body seeming to come and go.

I hope this information is helpful to you!

Sounds like it could be nerve pain? Cayenne pepper believe it or not is an amazing substance that can work wonders in your body and can restore health. Do not take it in capsule form though. When cayenne hits our mouths a signal is sent to the stomach that prepares the stomach for the cayenne before it reaches the stomach. Taken in capsule form overrides this and can cause stomach pain and discomfort. There is some reaction when tasted in the mouth that helps it work better as well. This is a site with a lot of info on it for anyone who might be interested:

I experienced electrical shocks in my head for most of my lifetime.  Generally it occurred out of nowhere especially when I laid down at night.  I've been on Lithium to control  my bi-polar mania.  Over the years, for me at least, I noticed times when I did not experience these sensations, but they returned when my Lithium level was too low.

Now, I rarely experience the electric feeling in my head, and when I do, it serves to remind me to continue taking my Lithium and to see the doctor (who takes a blood sample and has it scanned for Lithium.

Your situation may be different, but I thought I'd share this with you.  Good Luck....
