Hi, there. My friend was diagnosed so called false aneurysm. Doctor said to him it had been caused by an injury. I have heard about aneurysm and I know what that is, but false aneurysm is a new term for me. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks for all your efforts in answering me. Bye!

Hello to you too. False aneurysm or pseudoaneurysm is not such a distortion of blood vessel. The wall of this aneurysm does not have muscular layer as far as I know. It can be really caused by a previous trauma. This is usually a complication of percutaneous arterial procedures like arteriography or artery graft implanting. Like true aneurysms, these pseudoaneurysms can also be felt like pulsatile masses. However, you haven’t mentioned that your friend had such a procedure before. You should talk to him about this. I hope I have helped. Bye!
