Hi everyone,
i run and bike alot, but have never done the two back to back until I decided to do a 5K +20mi bike +5K duathlon last may. I've only done one 10K, I am a shorter distance runner, usually only 5Ks, with more endurance biking involvement. Has anyone else ever experienced a sensation like your rib cage is caving in during a race? I wasn't breathing extra hard, although I did have a couple of quad cramps, the sensation going directly from biking to running is very weird for me. I'm healthy and generally in shape, mid 20s, my heart rate was not irregular or higher than it should have been when I checked it. Anyone have a clue why I felt like that or experienced similar sensations? I'm fine dealing with the sensation and keeping running as long as I'm not giving myself a heart attack or something when I get this feeling. Could it be asthma? Thank you to anyone with feedback. Almost thinking about seeing a cardiologist, but pretty sure they won't be concerned with my past medical history of nothing except the occassional cold or injury related to overuse.
