Every month I feel like I'm getting a sore throat, aching all over and absolutely zero energy. I know it's when I'm due (normally 1 week before I start)but I always think, oh I'm getting a cold...I wish I was, then it hits me...BOOM! I feel so down too, I have two boys aged 8 and 9 which and run my small cleaning business so I'm quite active but feel like hibernating most of the time...everything is an effort...I'm 47, I'm probably going through the early stages of the menopause...oh Joy!

I have the same thing I am totally wiped out once every few weeks. I had my menopause years ago and I have 3 monthly B12 shots. So far no one has figured out what it is. I feel sick, faint, achy, exausted and have fluey symptoms. It last a day or two and then I am pretty much back to normal.

Have you been checked for fibromyalgia?

Did they check your thyroid levels in your blood work? I know this was posted a while back but sounds like thyroid could be part of the culprit. Hope all is well.

Hi! I'm a midwife and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition practitioner and those sound like thyroid symptoms. I'm guessing you only had your TSH tested and told you were fine. It can take TSH years to show thyroid distress that you'd be able to see in your free T3 and T4 now. In addition to that, the lab ranges are too wide, missing many cases of hypothyroidism. You have hypothyroid symptoms and would most likely feel better with supplements or meds to support that. You can have a functional medicine doc or functional diagnostic nutrition practitioner interpret your labs in a more helpful way.

Have you checked to see if you have lyme disease. It may seem odd but many people dont remember a tick bite. You would have to do a urine DNA test (DNA Connextions) as blood tests show negative for many. Good luck.

I am 46 and started my menstrual cycle then felt very ill. I thought it might have been from a new Private Duty patient but not very convinced. If this keeps up I'm having a hysterectomy. Can't go through this every damn month.

I had what I called the "period flu" for years before finding the "cure". I was blessed with a Gun that listened to my strange description. She said she would like to start me on progesterone for 10 days each month. I start on the 14th day of my cycle. I have been "period flu" free for over a year! She did warn me that it could make my symptoms worse, but I am 100% better!

Wow. I am totally in shock. Firstly, I wish I was told that my immune system was compromised during my cycle. And secondly for the the last 4 months I have gotten ill on my period and have even had to go to the hospital for having a high fever. It started when I went to Bali. The first day I got there I got sick and started my period. That was in December, now its March and I'm haggard with a major chest inflammation. I have absolutely no confidence in most western medical doctors with anything so I don't even want to try to talk to them.

I did and had no impact what so ever :-(
I only get flu symptoms the day before a cycle. It used to be twice per month when I was younger. Only lasts 24 hours but such a pain
