Follicular cysts are cysts that form when the sac that holds an egg doesn’t break and open to release the egg. When this happens, the cyst may continue to grow. This is a functional cyst that doesn’t pose treat to fertility and that usually dissolves on its own in three months time tops.
Now, it is a different situation if there’s an underlying condition that has been causing these cysts to form. If you are suffering from Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, a form of hormonal disorder, you could be facing infertility problems, not to mention that your chances are already impaired due to your age. Polycystic Ovary Syndrome interferes with women’s periods, hormones, insulin production and usage, etc, so if your periods are irregular, have excessive body hair growth, problems with weight, you are susceptible of the disease.
If the follicular cyst had formed out of the blue, without an underlying condition, you are going to be fine and it will probably just disappear. However, if the cyst has filled with blood and got really big and painful, then you should see what your gynecologist thinks you should do.
