Thank you to all for all your encouraging stories...
Like many of you I am going through the same thing...I just turned 43 and have been trying for a few months...My challenges now are the the doctors are telling me I might have to have surgery for the fibroids...not to mention amh is a little low (fsh borderline 12)...I am going foreward with hope and prayers...will try to freeze embryos if possible and then surgery...
To the lady who went through 9 cycles with the help of clomid and dhea...could you add any other advice or tips...when you said 9 cycles did you mean IVF...How many mg of dhea did you take and did you have any side effects from it...Was you amh and fsh within normal limits? Sorry for so many questions I am naturally eager for any beneficial information that I can obtain...Thank you in advance....

I´m "the lady who went through 9 cycles with the help of clomid and dhea", now a new member here and not just a "guest".

IVF? My physicians don´t allow me to do that for "medical-ethical reasons". In both Sweden (where I live) and Denmark doctors believe that my chance to become pregnant with IVF is zero because of my bad hormone levels (FSH 20, undetectable AMH) and perimenopausal status. Since 2008 I have been banned as a patient on IVF clinics in Scandinavia.

But nevertheless I became pregnant naturally in 2008 on the second attempt with my dear partner just after a physician had recommended me to go for DE. And after the birth, I became pregnant on the ninth attempt...but unfortunately had a miscariage in w. 7+5. Of course I don´t give up - I think there´s still hope for me to get a third child.

You asked me about DHEA:

I took 75 mg DHEA a day in three months. As a side effect I had pimples in the face. And I didn´t have menstrual periods during the treatment, but I think it was because of my perimenopausal extremely irregular cycles and not because of the DHEA treatment.

Amida, Thank you for your response...
I am so happy to hear that you never gave up amid the challenges you mentioned...
Hearing your story has put me in better spirits and a better frame of mind...
Your children are blessings and I am hoping and praying for you also to get your third...
I am doing accupuncture, taking wheatgrass herbs, dhea and trying naturally for now.
I will be starting IVF meds soon...Please wish me luck...

Am 43, miscarried in Sept. at 12 weeks. Want to try again but Dr. says now I am perimenopausal. Ob sent me to a reproductive specialist, he ran some test and determined that I had no eggs left, that egg donation was my only choice. He did not want to discuss the use of fertility medications. I am very confused. Anyone have advise.

Amida, I am 40 years old woman that desperately wnat to have kids with my swedish husband. None of us has children from previous relationships. I just moved from the USA and I find the swedish medical system very hard to browse.

Doctors have told me the same, that I may be entering menopause (unusually early), my periods are no longer regular, I get it every 50, 70 `? days and it is hard to plan anything. The doctors in sweden have also told me that there is nothing that they can do for me. My AMH levels are very very low and FSH changes all the time, from high normal to outraegously high.

I do not want to give up. although it seems that being here I am trapped. You also live in Stockholm? May I know who is the doctor who told you about DE? Is that DHEA? How can I start the same treatment that you did. It sounds promising and it gives me hope.

It is hard to explain the sadness that comes so deeply from our hearts and I think that only other women who go through the same can really understand how we feel.

Please advise me on how to do in Sweden and which doctor to see.

Thank you and congratulations on your babies!

White

Hi, I found this site because I am 45 and over 3 weeks late. I have never been pregnant because my husband's low sperm count. I guess it's crazy to get a preg test, but I can't stop hoping for what I prayed for so long. I just wondered what happened with your pregnancy? Was it okay? I hope so.

I've always been one to read discussions but not post myself.  I am 44.  I married late at 40, started IVF right away & was told I had poor quality eggs. We tried anyway and failed.  I then moved onto DE, our fresh cycle failed with high quality eggs & I was convinced I could not have children. We tried our frozen eggs and I delivered my DS at age 43.  I had a few frozen eggs left.  Became pregnant but no heartbeat at 7.5 weeks.  Devastating!! We are currently working with our previous egg donor.  I love my son so much & want for him to have a sibling.  If this next cycle were to work I won't have another baby until I am 45.  Feel like that might be too old.  I am already the oldest by far in our playgroup, although I feel connected to the other girls. It is just nice to hear that others out there also want are or want to be moms well into their 40's.  Makes me feel less alone. Thanks for all of you that have shared your stories. My mom had me so young, could not imagine her not being in my life for many years to come.  I struggle with the fact I won't be around as long for my children.  But, at this age we have more financial resources, love and patience to offer.  Good luck to all of you who are striving for your baby.  I think it's well worth the effort, prayers and tears.

Hi, It is nice to find a site with women who are going through the same thing i am. I am 41 and have been told i am in menapause, I have been experiencing hot flashes for a while high fsh levels since June and no period for almost 6 months. Was about to give up hope when hot flashes went away period came back and having ovulation pain for two months. Now had hot flashes for two weeks no period last month and waiting to see what this month brings. Not giving up hope and fsh level were 100.6 and now they are 34.6 big different in my eyes. I know in my heart i am meant to be a mom, it is just a matter of time. But it is frustrating!!

I just turned 45 and have had regular periods until this month I had four days of spotting on a panty liner. one week before my period was due followed by tremendous cramping..My breasts were sore and when I squeezed my nipple fulid came out., I feel very bloated and I even felt like I was starting to waddle when I walked.. I just felt so pregnant.. I took many home pregnacy tests and all were negative so I wasnt convinced and I went to a walk in clinic and theres came back negative also.. the nurse told me because of my age and the test result I was in menopause. That menopause mimics symptoms of pregancy..I really do feel Pregnant, She made me feel like I had some sort of disease when she said you have Menopause..I couldnt hardly imagine myself ever being this old to have it, or maybe I thought it couldnt happen to me, or really I just never thought about it at all until that NURSE told me I have it.... Now Im am totally freaking out and now Im thinking that I may never have another chance to have a baby again..I am just having a hard time taking all this in, because I really wanted to be pregnant before it was too late but now Im feeling like I just waited too long...And why does menopause make you feel PREGNANT?

I am your age and had a doctor(male) tell me something about maybe i wanted to be pregnant so i let myself be fooled, i went  to a female Nurse practioner and she was kind and caring and mention to me I know my body and it could be pregnancy or something else, let me order siome test to rule out different things, including  fibroid, It is a shame how many of these health proffessionals make you feel.  Many people experience menapause in different ways, some have the symptoms  as you stated,  I can imagine how you  felt and as a medical worker, I am sorry, as I was in your place ,and I left that doctor and found another (female) who knew what i was going through and was compassionate as well.  I also have noticed that when you are in your late forty and mention you want to have a baby many look down on you, so I only speak to ones that really want to  listen and will understand, we all feel different about children , and even though one person  might not like something , it does not mean another person will feel that way.  Seek another doctor advice and see. Best to you...:-D

I am 43 and experiencing peri symptoms. I had my first son at 40 and my second at 41. Both were naturally conceived but planned. We charted ovulation dates. My husband and I have been together for 12 years and I have never been on birth control. We only got pregnant when we chose. After a late period, I took a home pregnancy test last week. It was positive.
I have very mixed feelings about this. I don't mean to be insensitive to the women here who desperately want a child. I just worry about miscarriage, genetic defects, and selfishly, if I have the energy to start the newborn sleepless nights again. On the other hand, we are looking at this as a miracle.
I am afraid to tell family and friends because of the chances of complications. The past 2 days, I have horrible cramps and the tenderness in my breasts have completely vanished. I am very nervous. Has anyone had a similar experience?
For those trying, healthy pregnancies free of complications are possible after 40. My two perfect little boys are proof.
Good luck!

I just found this site, because I am 45 and have a positive pregnancy test. I have 4 children the last one at 43, and the one before that at 41. We had not planned for another baby, but now that I am pregnant feel I need to find information on being pregnant at 45. My husband is thrilled and already picking out names. I am just scared, the statistics on carrying a baby to term are not too positive. I am trying to turn it over and just leave it in God's hands, but the thought of miscarriage is terrifying to me.
