A little over 5 years ago I had a vesectomy. I did all the follow up tests and the doctor told me the procedure was a success. I was with my ex for 3 years after that. She never became pregnant. Now I have been with my girlfriend for 1 and 1/2 years and she is pregnant. What are the chances of a vesectomy failing after 5 years?

Hi:
There are cases of vasectomies failing. You would need current information about yours specifically. Perhaps the information you were getting with follow-up tests is no longer reliable. That is the only way to be sure. Only you know your current girlfriend and the particulars of your relationship. A current test will confirm or deny the status of your vasectomy. Another question: Does your girlfriend know that you had a vasectomy? What does she think? You don't have to guess anymore. A Urologist can answer your questions. Take care and let us know what you find out.

It is possible in some cases that vesectomy has failed. But it is little strange that you had all the test done and they were ok. Possibility is there, so you need to go and to test your self out. I really hope that this is the case and that your girl has not cheated on you. Keep us posted on your status and the test results.

Hi cman1209:
I know that this must be very difficult for you, considering the possibilities. Have you decided what you are going to do? I know that it must be scary to get results and questions answered. You may not like either answer, but you will probably continue to have stress if you do not get your questions answered. I hope that you will choose to do so soon. You will be able to move forward after that and take control of your life back by making some decisions based on facts. Please let us know how we can further advise and/or support you.
