Did you ever come back and update your post? i see you posted three years ago, what happened to your hair loss?
the doctor should tell you that you will loose your hair and stunt your growth because it is not just a couple of people this happened to it is everyone who goes on the drug, I regret ever letting my son take this medication!

Many vitamins and minerals help hair growth, but specifically there are some stronger options than Vitamin E as studies show. It may be easier to buy a specific hair growth supplement that includes more than one specific thing. You should research Reloxe and other products that get results.

Hi everyone, Last year at this time I was in the same position as everywhere here. I was losing hair like I have never seen because of accutane and I was freaking out. My hair line had receded and it was visible. I had stopped letting my hair down because I could see clumps of hair everywhere I sat. But I have come back to let you guys know it will get better, much better. I started taking accutane in January 2012 and stopped in May 2012 when I suffered some pretty bad side effects because some added stress I had. My hair had started shedding in March 2012 and by May it was terrible. My forehead had become bigger because of the receding hairline and I was miserable. I had also lost my sex drive completely, like completely. I did not want to even think of sex and there was no lubrication down there. I hated the thought of sex. Anyway, the shedding and loss of sex drive continued even after I stopped taking it. But it has really really improved since February 2013, about 9 months from the time I stopped taking accutane. My sex drive is about 70-80% back and my hair is getting back to normal. Though my hair shaft is visibly thinner I have noticed hair on my forehead where it had receded and I have also noticed small strands of hair all over my head. So I wanted to let you all know that it will be okay. Just calm down and wait. Take some vitamins, I took Vitamins for Hair and Biotin. I'm still taking Vitamins for hair but not regularly. You just have to wait and things will eventually get back to normal. I know the accutane side effects are terrible and I don't think I'd recommend this to anyone in the future, but for those of you who have taken it, you'll get back to normal. Hope this helps.

Hi, I had very severe cystic acne and it left my face horribly scarred. Between steroid injections, two years of antibiotics (which ended in very painful bouts of esaughigitis) and topical acne treatments i spent thousands of dollars. Out of desperation I started on acutane. I have been off of it for about 5 months now and my hair is falling out. My scalp burns too. I was on acutane for 5 months at 50 mg. I weigh 150lbs. Unfortunaly While I was on acutane I still broke out in cysts and developed severe issues with my digestive system causing me to stop all medications. The acne is now gone. I discovered it was caused by my adhd medication. Once i stopped taking it my acne went away for good. I'm writing this to warn any one who might be taking vyvanse or concerta or other adhd medications that has developed severe acne to please consider it may be caused by these medications. I never had problematic skin before I started it. My hair is still falling out. Ill post again in a month with an update. My stomach seems better, but It tends to come and go.

My hair started falling out REALLY BAD a day or two after I started taking the drug. I have finished the treatment course though. My acne were very severe, that's why I stayed on the drug. Since my hair started falling out I have been using multiple serums, shampoos and hair treatments for hair loss with no success. I have been off the drug 6 months. I don't have any hair regrowth yet and my hair still falling out pretty bad. I have lost half of the volume I had before. My hair is very thin now:( My dermatologist and other doctors say there is nothing they can do to stop the hair loss besides using Rogaine. Man, Accutane did some serious damage to my body!

I wanted to reply to this post because I went through heavy hairloss/thinning after taking accutane about 8 years ago. I was so depressed and insecure and I promised myself that if my hair regrew I would write a post to help others going through the same issue. I started taking accutane in my mid 20's for what I thought was bad acne, but looking back I think that there is no way a doctor should have prescribed such an intense drug for my condition. I knew hair loss was a side effect, but didn't think it would happen to me. After I stopped the drug after a few months I started losing a lot of hair until I eventually saw that it was noticeabley thinning quite a bit. I never wore my hair down after this and would always wear headbands to cover the thinning.

I went to standard doctors who barely gave me any information, but told me to go on rogaine for women. I did this briefly, but it was so horrible that I quit using it after a while. Around this time my aunt referred me to a irridologist who started me on homeopathics and some herbs. He also recommended a good, healthy diet program. While I took the herbs and homeopathics, I did not eat well. This helped the hair loss, but I did not see much as far as regrowth. The best thing to come out of this is I started studying alternative healing methods, nutrition, and how the body can heal itself. I gained a whole new perspective on everything and knew that I could regrow my hair after this horrible experience.

It took a long time, but 8 years later my hair is back. The reason I think it took so long is because my diet has been really bad for such a long time, including a lot of alcohol. I have also gone through the hardest, most stressful years of my life the past few years. I really believe that if I had been eating a nutritious, whole foods diet (similar to the paleo diet) I would have regrown my hair much earlier. I also do believe that mental health is also a huge aspect of healing. Even though I've been stressed out like crazy and eating horribly for such a long time, I think the main thing that has helped in regrowing my hair is visualizing the regrowth and how it would look one day. I have done this for a long time and I really think it worked. I know that sounds crazy to some people, but it doesn't hurt to try. I also think the Acutane finally got out of my system completely. I also stopped using commercial shampoos and hair care products and started using herbs to cleanse my hair. This took some adjustment, but now I love the way they make my hair feel.

Sorry for such a long post, but if it can help someone out there I would be so happy. Don't give up if you are losing your hair after this drug because you can heal yourself.

Hi , I am a 47 year old female who took Accutane as an absolute last resort after suffering from cystic ance from the age of 12.

I had a very easy time of it, hardly any side effects apart from weght loss which was a result!. It's now been 8 months since I came off the drug and I have a large patch of hair maybe 3" in circ. missing at the back of my head and 2 smaller 50p size patches missing on the top of my head.

It's not a huge deal as my hair covers it mostly. My doctor was useless. My hair dresser had better advice! Ive been told to go back to the docs if there is no regrowth aftyer 6 months.

Yes accutane can cause this, you may be able to use minoxidil OTC, but accutane causes serious side effects in different people. Poison

Is your hair still back to normal? I stopped accutane 5 months ago, lost almost all my hair, but now it seems to be slowing down some!

2 months after i got off accutane i noticed extreme shedding. The kind where hair just fell off from the root when i would just touch it. Its really gotten me worried. My doc prescribed me with supplements and stress tabs and minoxidil. But i only noticed more hair loss :( im afraid i might even go bald :'(
