Apologies in advance if this is TMI for some people but just looking for opinions or similar situations. I've always had a minimal amount of discharge daily but noticed it has gotten worse within the past year or so. I need to wear a pantyliner everyday and change it multiple times, which I never had to do in the past. I brought it up to my physician at last year's physical and after a swab test I ended up positive for candida and I was told I had bacterial vaginosis. Negative for STDs. I took a one time oral medication but it never improved. I mentioned it again last week.. I was basically told that this is normal. It's usually thick and white/yellow, mucousy a few days of the month. There is somewhat of a foul odor. No itching or other symptoms. A few days ago I bought one of those cvs over the counter vaginal screening tests that indicates if you have a pH imbalance or some sort of infection, which did not show anything. It's just so inconvenient and uncomfortable to walk around in a pantyliner all day. I feel that wearing one 24/7 can even make it worse but if I don't, it will just be messy. I also feel uncomfortable getting intimate with my partner because of this. I was on a birth control pill but stopped it in 2015 due to other hormonal side effects, but this was not a problem. I've had the paragard IUD for over two years now, which is the span of time that I’ve noticed this has worsened. I'm wondering if this IUD could cause an increase in vaginal discharge. I can’t determine what else it could be. I have not mentioned it to the Gyno but I'm looking for a new gynecologist so with my next appt I will bring it up. Has anyone else have this problem? Is this a side effect of the IUD?

I have also had an increase in discharge since I got my paraguard a couple of years ago. For the first year or so I could easily find the strings. Now it is very difficult and sometimes I don’t find them. So I guess it moved up or the strings twisted around. Anyways I don’t like it when I can’t find them because my mom almost died from a paraguard she had placed back in ‘79.

I am so annoyed with my lips sticking to the wetness that I am always having. It’s not a lot. Just enough to be uncomfortable. I can’t atand the feeling of pantyliners. When I tried them they don’t absorb discharge because I guess it usually isn’t liquify enough. So again the same uncomfortable feeling of your skin sticking to the wetness AND feeling like I’m walking around in an uncomfortable bunching up diaper. Yea I can throw the liner away but I’m still uncomfortable wearing it. Lose lose situation. I just ordered some menatrual sponges online to see if they will absorb the discharge because changing my underwear 2-4 times a day due to discharge is not acceptable method for me. This is a problem and I am determined to solve it!

I haven’t had any other side effects from the paraguard so I am hesitant to get it removed. I really want to have an easier time locating the strings so I know it’s probably still in the right place.

Otherwise I love the paraguard. Effective and no other issues I’m aware of. So maybe the mematrual sponges will a solution. I’ve also determined that I need to alter or sew my own parties ao they are easier to change in a public restroom. They need to be in 2 pieces and attach so that you don’t have to remove your pants and shoes just to change them. Restroom floors are disgusting and I don’t want to touch them with even my socked foot.
