Saw a lot of scarey recovery stories on other locked threads and wanted to report my story since its much more encouraging.
I had mine last Friday morning. Friday was fine but Saturday the anesthesia was definitely gone. We were leaving to Daytona beach and I had to be wheeled in a wheelchair at the airport and had to lay down at the gates at Dulles and Atlanta connecting flight to Daytona.
When we got ther I spent the rest of Saturday and Sunday in bed while family was at the beach. I hadnt had a bowel movement since Thursday. It's the most horrid pain.... I was terrified to push....i drank magnesium citrate on sunday evening around 7 and and cried in bed in pain as my bowls rummbled and by midnight I was standing in the shower with a towel in my mouth to bite down on and weeks worth of bowel movement came out. Ugh....what a relief.... It was painful but you need to push through it knowing it will come out if you have drank a bottle of magnesium citrate.
After that the pain was a burning feeling rather than the constipation pain which is much worse. The perceset is what caused the constipation so don't use it....or take milk of magnesium and stool softness with ever perceset pill from the get go....that will make the first poop much easier.....
Stay away from perceset and use ibuprofen....the doctors only want you to use antiinflammatories as a last resort bc they cause can in rare cases cause more bleeding...but it's a nessaccary risk....
After the first poop it's all down hill with using e bathroom but burning butt pain and difficulty walking remains....if you decide you have to go with perceset use half doses and drink milk of magnesia with every pill you swallow!!!!!!
Most of the Harry stories lead back to perceset and constipation....
I'm surviving and it's worth it because I had repeated hemroid crisis......first pop was at day 2.5 after surgery with magnesium citrate!!!! Stay away from perceset or chase it dose per does from the get go with laxatives or you will regret it....
Good luck....I'm happy at day 3.5!!!!! Sorry about all the spelling errors....

hey wade,
it looks like you're only 1 day behind me. I got my dectomy at 1:35pm Thursday. Percocets don't seem to constipate me at all. Maybe I have the placebo lol. I'm only eating fruits, veggies, fiber cereal, oatmeal, and metamucil. Had to cut back on fiber today because I'm having too many BMs.
I take a percocet every 4 hours along with an NSAID and a muscle relaxer.
so far so good. of course pain after BM is still paralyzing, which you are very familiar with :) and I still have hard time urinating, but nothing too alarming.
good luck with your recovery.

btw, I can't believe you went out in public, let alone through an airport and rode on an airplane! wow! I was supposed to go to Vegas on Sunday for a very important business trip, but I had to cancel. There was no way my ass was getting more than 100 feet away from my bathtub and toilet! lol
