Prior to having to have my gallbladder out my bowel movements were normal. The DR told me that if I had the gallbladder taken out I'd be free of pain but would suffer from diaherra indefinitely. I was willing to take this chance. I had my gallbladder taken out in 2006 and I haven't been the same since. Instead of diaherra, I have suffered from severe constipation since it has been taken out. I have went almost 2 weeks without pooping and it makes me extremely bloated- looking almost 9 months pregnant.

At first, I tried every herbal supplement there was, changed my diet, began exercising more, etc. Nothing has worked. My PCP kept telling me to drink more water, eat more fruits/veggies, etc.

I went to a GI specialist a few years ago and he completed a xray test *Swallow a drink with metal rings and he takes xrays a few days later to see transit time* Specialist told me that everything was fine and refused to order a colonoscoppy due to my age (26) This constipation has gotten worse over the years since the gallbladder was out. I have tried every over the counter medications including Miralax, Magnesium, Magnesium Complex, Magnesium Citrate, IBS II, Enzymes, Amitiza Vitamins B6 to help with absorption, fiber, laxatives, suppositories, enemas, etc. It seems like nothing works. I've had people tell me to try anal sex and being desperate to poop I've tried this and it didn't work either.

I recently went to a new GI specialist and he provided me with Lactulose. This made me extremely bloated/gassy and didn't seem to help. I finally had a colonscopy completed last week and low and behold they claimed that "everything was normal" and they scheduled me an office visit for possible "IBS". I have been tested for Chron's disease and it was negative.

Unless I eat an entire speghetti squash in one sitting, I don't go to the bathroom. I don't beleive that its my diet as I went on a salad diet to see if it was something I was eating and it didn't help when I ate more fruits/veggies/ etc. However, if I eat fried goods or potato chips..then I"ll go! IF I do this, I gain a ton of weight but can go to the bathroom. I don't like the trade off.  I take 800mg of Magnesium a day with 200mg of Vitamin B6 to help with absorption. I take a protein shake daily which has 100% of DV Magnesium in it as well. NOTHING WORKS.  I'm out of options and I'm to the point where I'm givin up. If I could reverse my gallbladder surgery, I'd do it in an instant. I'm 26 years old and severe constipation is my ONLY medical issue/concern.

*I ended up in the ER one time for severe adominal pain- Xrays showed that I was severly constipated- Magnesium Citrate, Xlax, etc did not work. The ER ended up having to use a homemade enema (water and soap) This has been the ONLY thing that has worked in the past and its only been done once
