Hi, I am 21 years old and just recently had inguinal hernia repair surgery with plastic mesh about 6 days ago. I understand it's going to hurt to cough, laugh, and sneeze... sneeze most of all, I immediately started bawling my eyes out from the pain. But what I am concerned about is that is it supposed to hurt so much to laugh or when i laugh should I have an odd sensation in my abdomen? Is that normal? Also, my menstrual cycle is supposed to start up on the 15th, may be early or late due to the stress of surgery, but should I prepare myself for any extra pain or anything? I'm already feeling very emotional, yay PMS, so being in pain doesn't help it at all. I get extreme pain before my period, endometriosis my doctor had confirmed as well as chronic ovarian cysts on my left ovary, and guess which side the hernia was on... the left. I also have irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) as well as an extremely high threshold for pain and a high tolerance, I believe is the correct wording, for pain killers due to my pain threshold (they had to put me on delaudid since other narcotics do not take enough of the pain away and I get too many side effects, had 19 with tramadol @.@). All of this makes my pain hard to control. When my pain level is at a 10, it's the average person's 20, or so I have been told by my doctors. So, will my menstrual cycle, ovarian cysts, endometriosis, and IBS cause any severe additional pain while I recover or later on? Will I still be able to carry a child when the time comes? About how long should I wait before becoming sexually active? (obviously not anytime soon, hurts just thinking about it) And will it hurt? I have heard that having certain meshes placed inside can cause pain during sexual intercourse and would just like to be prepared. Sorry this was so long ><
