Hirsutism is excessive growth of hair in locations where it is usually absent or minimal. It may occur on the face, chest and areoles. Hirsutusm is rarely accompanied with adrenal or ovarian abnormalities. High level of androgen hormones is responsible for hirsutusm in women. Medical treatment is unnecessary; it may be treated with antiandrogen therapy. Shering produces hormonal preparations that may help in hirsutusm and treatment of acnes. Temporary epilation is also successful.
