Hi. I'm 20 years old and I have had an elevated WBC since I was 16. At its lowest since this point it was 10.5 at it's highest it was 35. Last time I had it checked I believe it was around 18 but I'm not sure because I was under the influence of morphine due to the c-section I had just had. I'm very tired, having bone and muscle pain, nausea, low-grade fever, severe headaches, vision disturbances, general weakness, mild to severe abdominal pain, and malaise. I'm terrified I have leukemia and I go to see my hematologist on June 3rd, and I may possibly need a bone marrow biopsy, but he said he would discuss that with me then, due to when I went in to see him for the first time I was about 8 months pregnant. Someone please shed some light on this subject for me. I know I've had the elevated WBC for 4 years now.. but I just started developing these new symptoms in the past 6 months. I am a smoker, I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not, and I am also under alot of stress as of late, and always have been for the past 4 years.. I'm also bipolar.. so I'm not quite sure what to think :-( I'm just very scared! Please help!!!

I feel for you. I got pregnant last year and found out then that I had an elevated WBC count. Doctor didn't seem toooo worried. I had a miscarriage in August (unrelated.) I've gone back for 2 more blood draws in the last 10 months with the same results. The count hasn't gone up, but it also hasn't gone down. Not feeling sick or anything. Tired (I think) due to work related stress. Anyway...I found out I was pregnant again last week. The next day I was going to call my doctor to give him the news but before I could there was a message for me from him telling me he had a plan to "keep you healthy." I called back to give him the news and he told me he wanted to send me to a specialist. I'm terrified at the moment. I'm not as young as you, but I'm not old either...I'm only 32. What could it be?? Let us know what happens. Good luck. I know it's scary, but hopefully it's not as bad as you think. Smoking and stress CAN and do elevate your WBC count. I know that.
